Having a saw with a pressure oil system makes it lots easier. I would look to the automotive supply houses. A filter bracket with bypass relief valve. A large filter and let it rip. Pipe it in on the pump discharge side of the system.

Get the vibe. Some fine grits and polish. Shine away. After your success, and you will succeed, you will start to compare your gems to the others pictured here. Then you will want a rotary to finish shaping stones. Then you will start to see stones that originated in far away lands. Then you will buy some. Then you will need a bigger rotary. Then you will want a RTH original 'agate eater'. It's a hoot of a hobby, some of us are laid back artists. Some are hyper OCD artists. The vast majority willing to help you succeed.

On the outside chance that you would do it, I have a SS basket Maytag commercial washer I could let go cheap. Western Wisconsin. Line the barrel with cutting boards and spray it down with Plastisol...I would load it. A couple hundred a load? Seriously cut down your time and electricity, maybe.

The trouble with a centrifuge is the low capacity for solids. Semi reasonable prices on centrifuge designed for bio diesel. Ten and a half ounce capacity for solids. I would expect that much solid in a days cutting.

I would put it in a prominent place as a reminder what not to do. I have had a spent shotgun shell on my desk for exactly that same reason. Smile every time I see it. Long story... cost me a couple hundred bucks, but a good lesson learned. At least the burst barrel didn't connect with any flesh.

youp50 captbob My vibration mechanics professor would have failed me on this vibe project. Looking back on the issue with excessive vibration was basic and the solution was way basic. Gentle vibration environment should have been solved in 15 minutes. may purchase a used UV to tinker with. Need to try to tune one of them. If any one finds a deal on the smaller UV-10 let me know. I'll try to tune one. I will get back to the rock shop for a week or so. I guess I have to start fooling with glass. I did pull the trigger on some clean ceramic media from Rock Shop. I decided I needed a 4 # bowl. It still is bruising glass. I am reluctant to put a plate of steel on, I would own the only UV in existence that would burn out the motor. Probably need to look into the mechanics of the machine to decrease weight offset.

The 100k machines just bring the faced pipe to the heater plate, not keep a steady pressure on it. The pressure is maintained during the fusion process. It appears to me that you had hired me to do that one. I tend to agree with Walt, except any method you have at your disposal would work. Personally, considering its a free scrap, I would put it in a prominent place as a reminder what not to do.

I own the UV stuff. I am uncertain how shiny my rocks are. I am not nearly as fastidious in clean out between grit changes as I could be. I do not have a dedicated polish barrel. I do not keep records on polishing. My rocks suit me fine, and that is really what matters.
I enjoy following your quest. I would not be surprised to see you faceting next. Find a challenge, whip it and move on.

Even doing them "wrong" James puts me to shame. Got not one thing to do about James fish. It is all about the ability of the machine. Yes, abrasives/media/slurry plays a role. But the machine controls the quality more than anything. This vibe is so user friendly it is difficult to screw up a load. As I recall the Loto uses an electronic induced motion. Your vibe an offset weight. My assumption is its the shape of the Loto barrel that creates the superior polish. That and being able to tone the Vibrasonic down.

If it is a 6" 303C the thinnest is .014". The thin electroplated are about 1/2 that thickness. I trust your judgement. I am certain it is much thicker than 6 thousands. I usually wait to cut matchsticks until near clean out time. Let them drop and fish them out. I definitely see your requirement.

@shotgunner , you need one with a really narrow blade . . .um . . hole - the hole in the . . . um . . . table, that the blade pokes out of. (Sorry, I just ate lunch, food coma). Why? I run a thin 6 in trim blade, I like the ability to watch for side loading the blade. A solid rim BD 30_, sorry it's the last and most important number I cannot recall.

Oh, I vote, every election. Just not for the Prez.
The Donald may be the best. Kind of like reaching into a bag of dogturds and pulling out the one that smells best. It will be interesting to see how he tries to balance the budget.
Have you seen Maine's latest reaffirmation of democracy sans the Republic part?

(To make matters worse, the tablet is winning the grammatical, spell war right now.)
I prefer to choose where our dollars spent in poverty relief go. Realistically, to remain a citizen of the greatest country the world has known, I forfeit that right. Willingly. To remain true, I volunteer and give where I wish.
I have intentionally not voted for a President since Mr Regan. A pointless, impotent act. There has not been one since worth my vote. Regan was not worth my vote either, just happened to be the last prez I voted for.
I really like the beaches of Lake Superior. Peaceful, even when 15 footers are crashing in. Keeps me grounded and fully aware of how insignificant my actions and desires are.

Are you concerned about preserving the constitution, or more interested in helping the poor with other peoples money? My wife and I are fairly well entrenched in the upper end of the middle class. Although semi retirmentment has us in a controlled slide. On a slippery slope without brakes. Most people do not understand the difference between a democracy and a democractic republic. The framers of the Constitution were men of deep personal faith. The Bible was their blueprint. If I dwell on the dependency that most government administered social relief programs fosterers, it is aggregating. Personally, I think the Constitution is a unique and wonderful creed. I dislike the word document here. So very much more. How to preserve it is a noble cause, fighting windmills comes to mind. The justice branch is runamuck. The executive branch grabs power similar to premonarchy. The legislative branch is mired down in 'my way or the highway'. Realistically, there is little I can do.

I dunno, I used to prefer no novacaine. Hang on and let him drill. About the time I was at my pain limit, he would be done. All I really recall was gripping the arms of the chair. And pain. I am fairly certain breathing was automatic.
