Looks great. Love the single handle and multiple head concept. Don't I remember a thread that joked about using a drill to shape round cabs?

You could try wrapping the jaws of the pliers with something like glass tape. (a fiberglass electrical tape)

Almost time for a trip to the south. Not getting much snow here but this is the first day it has made it into the twenties in a while.

Gee if it was summer I could bid and make a trip up there, collecting lakers. With the auction ending in mid January in a cold spell.... Might have to watch since they will ship the smaller stuff and there are some steals at the moment. 11 days from now, maybe some left.

There is a lot less wiggle room completing a nice looking faceted stone as opposed to a cabochon. Kudos for a great looking stone.

Never met him, but we could have swapped some sea stories. May you enjoy Full Sails Don.

Many Wows! Beautiful. The gray driftwood really enhances the stones. A perfect display prop. I thought it would make a nice stand and it has worked out well for pictures. With the quality of work some of the people on this site do, I have to distract viewers a little bit.

Looks like (Google) Needle Peak (mountain) is in a National Park? Is there a specific collecting area outside the park? Teri Smith has access to a ranch that is next to the park and just North of East Needle Peak. Some nice material from there and I hope I cut a piece of pompom agate, but nothing is yelling at me that it is pompom. I cabbed a really nice red moss from there a couple of days ago.

Thank You I thought I had remembered it being called a moonstone, but images I pulled up were totally different. They did not link to Larvakite at all.

Luckily I have never had that happen to me. I would be more than a little upset. Ebay will probably refund the money, unless the pendulum has swung back to the other side. I can never keep track.

I would say it has everything to do with you. You have modified that machine over and over to get it working the way you want it to and my hat is off to you for a fine job. Now I need to get off my butt and figure out what I can do to mine. It took a long time to figure out the problem. Modifying the machine did not take too much work. Which machine do you have ? Ultravibe 10 so I may just play around with replacing the counterweight at the bottom of the shaft to try and smooth it out a bit. It is pretty hard on softer material.

Even doing them "wrong" James puts me to shame. Got not one thing to do about James fish. It is all about the ability of the machine. Yes, abrasives/media/slurry plays a role. But the machine controls the quality more than anything. This vibe is so user friendly it is difficult to screw up a load. I would say it has everything to do with you.
