Motor I acquired (from my work at a great price runs at 5k rpm 1/4hp) and I used a household dimmer knob(added a knob lock to hold in place) I'm hoping the shaft adjustment helps, if not I'm going to have to move from a direct drive to a pulley, which is ok but basically going to have to rebuild if that's the case. I really appreciate your help on the measurement!! I'm gonna reset it this weekend and I will let you know how it goes!

As some of you know I recently built my first tumbler, it seemed to be running fine but it's been binding up at slow speeds(doesn't seem to want to go below 50-60 rpm) I think I have identified the issue as the drive shaft and the non driven being too far apart. I am using a Lortone 12lb barrel. I was hoping that someone here may be using the proper tumbler for this barrel(qt12/qt66) and would so kind as to measure the distance between the 2 shafts. It would be a great help. Hope all your projects are going well. Here's a pic of some cool product my wife and I go in today. Can you name them??

I just got a line on a large lot of 27 micron aluminum oxide(guesstimating about 675-700 grit) would that be a good pre polish? It's aerospace grade, made for media blasting. I might even be able to get enough to sell if people are interested.

I take mine outside, put on a P-99 cartridge half face respirator, safety glasses and face shield and grind it off with a 4 1/2 inch angle grinder and diamond wheel. I try to avoid my fingers. Was trying avoid grinding due to the asbestos I'm told is in tiger eye. If that's my only option I guess that's what it will be. I have heard some people treat with acid to break the stone down. Any insight into this method?

Hello everyone! I am new to the forum, looks like a lot of great information here! I am somewhat new to tumbling and so far so good! I've got 3 3lb barrels going and I just built a 12 lb tumbler(still needs tweaking but working pretty well) I did recently hit a snap though. I got a couple lbs of Blue Tigers Eye(Hawks eye if you prefer) and it's super rough, I am having trouble getting all the junk clay and stone off of it. Any suggestions on how to remove/loosen up the junk would be greatly appreciated.
