I wonder if that last one is a fossilized palm root.

Maybe ask the museum if they have any recommendations?

My mother has a store, and i have a geode cracker, and every couple years I order a lot of Crystal Canyon hollows from Gem Center USA. Unfortunately I don't have any right now. They have some very unusual and delicate crystal formations inside, though occassionally you get one mostly hollow and now and then, one full of mud. I can usually preserve most of the formations with the geode cracker, but thinking they might be destroyed unless judicious use of the hammer is employed.
Morroccan ones are likely to get you some very sparkly pieces, even if they don't break evenly. The crystals in them tend to be bright quartz.

Update for all... no one has dropped out, so I am not in. So close, and yet so far...
In the meantime, I bought a new computer in case I did happen to get in. First i ordered the wrong one and had to send it back (fortunately i realized my error before I opened the box). Then I sent for the one I actually intended to order, and it has arrived, and the dang thing looks so serious and expensive that I'm scared to turn it on. It's been so long since I set up a new computer that I don't remember how to do it. Sigh. And today is not the day to try. I got less than an hour of sleep last night due to the raccoons climbing all over the house. That and the quick change in weather and I have a lousy headache.

Still my dream to find ANYTHING knapped by someone in the past. To actually hold it and marvel at the meaning of the tool (most likely the difference between life and death!) It is an amazing feeling! I have only found a few flakes this year so far, and even those get me. Three years ago I found an entire cache of stone artifacts (chert pre-forms) and the state archaeologist excavated them (I helped). A paper was supposed to be written up, as intact caches are rare in my area, but if it was ever written, I never saw it.
How did the artifacts get to where I found them? When? What was the weather like? Who left them? More than one person? What did he look like? Was he the person who chipped them? Where did he come from? Where was he going? Why were they left? Was somebody else supposed to pick them up? Questions questions, questions...

I rather like the look of that big petrified wood. Interested. Any idea where it is from?

My condolences on the loss of your grandpa. I don't know what most of these rocks are. Do you know where they were collected?

That's OK. Beautiful women will be attracted to the pieces you will make with slab saw and then they will fall all over you and your equipment.

I don't think he's going to have to worry anymore about how the traffic is on the way to the job he is not going to have. He sounds like a jerk to me, and a techno-crat... one of those people who think they are superior just because they have technology and know how to use it. He probably couldn't check his tire pressure or use an actual paper map if his life depended on it. It was a joke video. Comedian John Crist made the video using snippets. mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2021/02/did-kprc-reporter-meltdown-on-live-tv.htmlHe got me! I did wonder if it was made on April 1st...

I have 3 or 4 pendants made of this stuff. (I didn't make the pendants, I just bought them.)
