Great job wrapping that tumble, rockbrain! Beautiful stone and story, too. I have never tried to wrap a tumbled stone, so I don't know that I would be able to do it!

Nice pics! Thanks for the short videos, too. Looks like you found some really nice stuff. I was waiting for a Where's Jax picture, but didn't see one, unless of course I didn't find her!

You did a great job on these! Your mahogany obsidian is actually Gold Sheen Obsidian.

I try to get the organics off because they decompose. Tumbling produces heat. Heat assists decomposition. Decomposition produces gasses. Gasses blow the lid off of the barrel. Blown off lids produce messes. Messes get in the bearings. Grit in the bearings destroys them. Destroyed bearings put stress on the rest of the machine. Further stress causes faster wear. Further wear means sooner repairs or re3placement. Sooner replacement means you spend less on the good part of the hobby. Spending less on the good part makes for less enjoyment. Less enjoyment means less enthusiasm for the hobby. Less enthusiasm makes for a better chance of putting the stuff away. Putting the stuff away leads to less to do. Less to do means you get bored. Getting bored increases the chances of getting in trouble. Getting in trouble causes emotional stress. Emotional stress causes ulcers. Ulcers cause you to have to go to the doctor. Doctors cause you to have to give them your money. Giving them your money means you end up in the poor house. All because you couldn't scrub the algae off of your rocks. Mark that was epic! Bravo!

MetaMoose I am not a tumbler, but I use 50,000 Vibra-Dry in a vibe for tumbling cabs after I have finished them. It just gives them an extra somethin'-somethin' to my eye. I don't have it full - maybe about 3/4 full of the Vibra-Dry. I would think a pound would be plenty for the Mini Sonic. I also don't think you need to have more than one hopper. You can pour it back into the container and wash the hopper out. You'd have to make sure it was dried good before you put the next grit in though. Otherwise I would think you'd get clumps. Hope that helps!

Very pretty cabs! Just a guess, but they kind of look like Serape Jasper to me.

Awesome finds! I'd say you had a successful hounding trip, even if it was cut short by the c-word. Hope you're over it and feeling better.

Jason, I am really liking the tighter, slightly smaller swirly stuff oriented over the bails on these wraps. I LOVE what you did on that 4th wrap! Very original and artistic!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm sorry hummingbirdstones ! I totally tagged you mistakenly- I meant to tag rocknewb101 . We each have a tiny beginner trim saw and a tile saw for slabbing. I got confused while reading the threads, sorry! 8 saws, including an 18" slab saw??? That's seriously awesome!!! And thank you for all the wisdom and feedback. I wish I could find a 4" blade with a .032 and 1/2" arbor, but all the thicker blades have been 5/8" arbor. I finally ended up ordering these for now: kingsleynorth.com/petra-slicer-electroplated-diamond-blade+kn_dimd_blade_desc-4%E2%80%9D-dia-x-0024-Core-x-0039-Rim-x-12%E2%80%9D-ArborI'm hoping the 0.024" will work okay for rough cutting cabs out of my pre-slabbed material. I'll take it slow and keep my fingers crossed. I went with the blade above because it's much less expensive... if the little saw isn't going to do what I bought it for, then I may need to sell and find something different. If that's the case, I don't want to drop $50 on a single saw blade first. I went with the MK Hot Dog for my 10" water cooled tile saw for now. We'll see how that does, I'm excited to play with it! Thank you SO much for all your feedback! Not a problem Christi. You can use a 5/8" arbor hole blade. You just need to get a bushing for it that reduces it to 1/2".

knave started this thread and he hasn't been around that I've seen 😞 I've seen him pop in every once in a while, but then *poof* he's gone. I miss him, too.

Nice cabs. Where do you sell them? Thanks, Lee. I sell on Etsy.
Gary, you should put your Etsy shop link down in your tag line.
