Where are you guys gonna put all your rocks? Or will you be sleeping on them😉 I've built a sleeping platform for my truck. It rest on a metal frame and the top of the fenders. I've got the entire space of the bed underneath. Also have a back seat and will be traveling alone. I'd rather not haul rocks there though, it would not be good in a rollover!

I took the last three weeks of January off to drive down and see what it's all about... Gonna bring some Idaho gems in hopes to make a few trades along the way. See you at Quartzite 2024!!

Several big gem and mineral shows. Loads of material and equipment for sale. A big plus is that there is also a get together for forum members and lots of good rock hounding sites nearby.

Went to Quartzsite today. Boy, a lot has changed while away for 5 years. I was so disappointed. Hoping Pow Wow will be better! Got to see Mr & Mrs Catmandewe again so that made me happy but bittersweet with memories of Rodney. I will go back for the RTH BBQ & memorial on Jan 19th.I hope to see many old members from here again and meet some knew ones.

I'm trying to finalize my schedule or at least a lot closer than it is now. What time on Friday does the RTH get together usually happen?

My chances of making it grow slimmer by the day so I'll just throw this out there that someone needs to grab it by the horns and get a sense of who's coming and make sure food is organized. Tony catmandewe usually supplies the protein but sides are needed and beers or whatever else is desired. Last time there Eva and I hit a store in Blythe for a bunch of stuff I dont remember like buns, plates, etc. Rockoonz's Elizabeth made a great pasta salad if I'm remembering right.

Tony catmandewe please post a list of items needed. I know side dishes are great and firewood is always needed but please post on here other items you may need to make this easier for you! We really appreciate the time and space you put aside for us so let it be known what you need to help you out.

We really appreciate the time and space you put aside for us so let it be known what you need to help you out. It really is pretty informal, I will provide hamburgers and hot dogs, Christopher Anthony stopped by today and said he would bring buns. I will pick up catsup and mustard and probably some pickles. We will grab some lettuce and onions from the produce guy this week. Whatever else you guys are bringing is up to you. There is no set menu and it is hard to wrangle something up on the road so whatever you can contribute or bring is ok with us. Any photos of Ed, Rodney and Vince would be cool, we can make them a part of this gathering. Anyone that passed recently that I am missing? Tony

We brought some Dos Equis and Modelo last time and will again I suppose. Certainly remember sitting there freezing in the cold and shaking as the evening went on and the cold beers didn't help though I do love beer. This time, I'm going to show with more warm clothing. Tried to eat more hotdogs/burgers to get more warm food in my stomach but reached the point where overdid it and nearly got sick. The conversation was good and I didn't enjoy having to leave when we did, but my voice was shaking and my teeth chattering. Walter and I got rooms in Quartzite this time for that night, so don't have to drive all the way back to Blythe.
Just got back from Yellowknife and found out what -11F feels like--it hurt.

-11 is nothing. Try -25 to -30. Been there done that. Didn't like it.
