realrockhound. Maybe someone here can identify it if you post a good picture. I hope so.

The point of this is NOT the auction. It's to have a good time. In the past, there was always a mixture of good and bad rocks. But, you have to remember-- one man's trash is another man's treasure. People put in what they can and not everyone can add the "good stuff". I hope that no one feels like they need to pass up what they love to keep it in the box for the auction. At the same time, don't hoard the good stuff. If you have mundane rocks, try to add more to make up for what you are taking. Lots of things have ended up in the box- templates, finished tumbles, tools, special cabs... Add what you can people. These boxes always end up with more than what they start with and have always had a good mixture for everyone. We don't usually have an auction for what is left. The box goes around and what's left starts a new box. Don't get hung up by the auction. It'll all work out. Have fun. No hard feelings.
Thanks for saying this. All last night I was worrying that whatever I put in the box would be considered crap by some people and that I should just drop out. 😂 I am pretty new to this hobby, and I thought this traveling box was meant to be a fun way to get to know some people better, to have some fun looking at beautiful rocks and help make this forum (which has been instrumental to my growth as a tumbler) a little bit of money. this is why i did it so that everyone could enjoy it like i did when i was new here dont stress about weather or not your stuff is grand all that matters is that it was to you and you traded it for something in the box

Hi all. I got the box today! Did a quick open and everything looks good, as in it looks like nothing broke. And boy, this is actually going to be tough! There is some really fun stuff in there from everyone. I am heading back to work now and then my Fridays and Saturdays are my longest days with double shifts. I 'can' get this box back in the mail for Saturday morning but I'd be doing it hastily in the wee hours of the morning between shifts. I feel like I'd do a better job if I mailed it Monday. Does that delay it too much for the next people?

…And speaking of a traveling box. Cody Luminin where are you ? Still in Ohio! 😝 Busier than ever before, 2 (3?) new hobbies, just bought what will eventually be a house after I finish a complete renovation, nearing the end of my apprenticeship, college classes nearly complete as well. And yes, I still have rocks coming out of my ears, just with everything else they’re on hold. Pretty sure I have a box sitting around here somewhere that was supposed to go out, but that Covid interrupted… 🤔 CODY! Good to see you I'm also in the middle of a complete renovation so I feel ya on that one.

kharaI’m also for taking your time. I’m figuring the more hands it goes through, the more there should be to look at. Instead of rushing through it so you can make work happen, take an extra day or so. Enjoy the box.

@msali You were asking about the royal eyes cabenite. Heres what it looks like in the rough. They are rhyolite nodules, the jasper forms on the outside in or so it appears. This is the First cut. And let me tell ya. Its getting nicer the more I cut into it.

From what I’ve gathered, as much as I have, and talking to my dad about my grandpa and his travels, he’s was one of the guys to dig it. Growing up, there was a lot of stuff he had/dug I wasn’t even aware of and have just now found out about.

That's pretty cool. Did he keep records of his stuff? Most he did. He wrote on everything. Sadly a lot of stuff has faded off. Stuff in the rough isn’t. I’ve rockhound with his as a small lil kid growing up. I knew about a lot of material but didn’t really have quite as much interest as I do now until after he had passed. It took me a few years to get back into it after he did. Then it became one of those things where I really started following in his footsteps and got overly serious about it and started going to the ends of the earth to find new material. Most stuff now I ask my dad about and he tells me stories about when he was a kid and remembers my grandpa coming home with material when he was logging and cutting the logging roads 😂 Heres some I cabbed that has the green orbs.
