Some good looking stuff in there! I love horn coral. The piece you kept that you're thinking is petrified wood, I think is bone. Thanks for the ID.

I didn't know about Greenstone then did a search. Wow! Both the polished look and the price. I have had a bag of them for 50 years and never done anything with them. Figured it was time to give someone a chance to make something. I think they will be good but never can tell. Sometimes they fall apart. Might be better stabilized. Hope whoever gets them posts some pictures of the finished ones.

rockbrain jasoninsd hummingbirdstones I’ve found with the Hells Canyon petrified wood it seems the lighter colored wood is a bit more stable than the dark. I think you can pretty much use the entirety of the light slabs. For some reason the dark ones that I’ve worked are more crumbly. I will actually kind of test them and try to break the slabs by hand prior to marking out a cab. Also, they will absorb water and then after the cab is complete they’ll dry out and lighten up. I hope you’ll be able to get some nice cabs out of those pieces. I cut two preforms from the slab late last week...or I tried to. One cut out nice...and I finished the cab the other night. The other preform split...so I saved the piece and will "re-think" the shape. The cab I did get done looks SICK...if I do say so myself! LOL I'll post pics and tag you when I post them... I have made my selections and put new additoins to the box and it will go to the post office to Dillon tomorrow. Here are the items I took. Holt Canyon agate rough, 1980s Fordite cab, Millofiori glass, Mariposite slab, Fairburn agate, agate slab (is this Teepee Canyon? I didn't see it in any of the addition photos), petrified wood (I think), and Royal velvet sheen obsidian. If someone can confirm the agate and petrified wood that would be great. Closeups of those two follow. Here is what I added. I tried to keep a Michigan theme (other than Amethyst and Sodalite) since I didn't see anything in the box from Michigan. Petoskey stone slab, Amethyst slab, Unakite slab, Sodalite slab, Unakite rough, horn coral slab, 4 Lake Superior agates ("old stock" collected by me in 1977 in Wnona, Minnesota at the gravel mine piles - bet you can't do that anymore), Charlevoix (favosities) stone that could make small slabs, Petoskey stone that could make a slab or two, 4 "old stock" Michigan Greenstones (chlorastrolite) collected by me in the 1970s somewhere on the Keweenaw Peninsula. The greenstones would probably be best for earrings or a ring but you might get a small cab out of one of them. Here are closeups of some of the ones I added dry and then wet on some. Wet Yes...that's definitely Teepee Canyon Agate. I think I took a pic of the two nodule halves and the slab all in one bag... Yep. That is toilet paper canyon. Nice looking piece as well.

Ok I swapped out some stuff The box was great! It was good family time. My wife, daughter and I looked at stuff and had fun ooooing and ahhing. The girls picked a few and I tried to find stuff in my boxes I thought was a fair trade. Stuff I took: Egg, two bumble bee jasper slabs, coral fossil, amethyst slab Stuff I put in: Three MLA slabs, Mexican coconut geode (smokey quartz), Idaho seam agate (from Tony) There was a little space in the corner, so I threw in an Oco geode. I think it is hollow I bought a big box of mine run stuff and most were solid, but this one is real light, so I think it has a cavity. Ok I just need to get titaniumman address, and hopefully I can get it out to him this week. This was a great idea! Glad I participated. Also, sorry I dropped off the map for a while. We finally got in our new house, but stuff hasn't settled down yet. I know because I fall asleep before my head even hits the pillow. Hoping once the little one gets back in school I'll get into a better routine. Dillon

Hey y'all. Does anyone know titaniumman ? I sent him a PM and tagged him in the thread above, but haven't heard from him. I am in no hurry, but I wanna make sure I don't forget to send the box out to him. I'm basing who I send it to next on this list: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/post/1310812Thanks!

This person only had 2 posts in Feb and wasn't active since then. If we don't hear back from him in a couple of days maybe we shall move on to the next person on the list.

I'm on the side of "skipping" them...and if they show back up and post some more, maybe we can put them back in the lineup. However...with only two posts, I'm really thinking we should err on the cautious side.

Well, I’m next after him and still here. Things have been a bit rough and I haven’t been online as much lately, but we are pulling through and excited about the box. At the same time, we are not in a hurry and do not want to bypass someone without giving them time to reply…

This 50-post rule makes a lot of sense to me.
