I also vote keep it. And I hope to get away for long enough to cut one this month, getting more likely as I start getting a few more new things together for this years NW shows.

Although I said I wouldn't do the contest anymore, if it came to do-or-die, I would enter again, just to bulk up the entry numbers, if nothing else.
That being said, maybe you could do it every other month, or something like that, & it would make it more of a "special" event.
You also once suggested a run-off once a year, for the monthly winners - That might entice people?

I'm confused. While the rectangular cab is gorgeous, it is most certainly not an equilateral triangle. Why?

But I consulted with my brother who is an engineer and he told me that equilateral triangles have three sides of equal length. This has four sides and they're not all of equal length. At least the angles are all equal though. Bronze star? |

Congrats agatewhisperer! I knew I was in trouble as soon as I saw your entry. I have to say that I've been a little confused by some of the voting over the last several months but not this one. It's a beautiful piece of material and what looks like a flawlessly ground cab. It fits the theme perfectly, has a well defined even girdle and a stellar shine. I'm surprised I faired as well as I did against it. |

For all the others who were pooping their pants over a rectangle being in the contest. Long story short.. there were 4 entries. Knowing full well the rectangle wouldn’t win, I entered it to bump up the amount of entries. And as expected, it didn’t effect much. Other than confirming rockbrain comment about confusing votes. Also agatewhisperer. Congrats |

I think making bad faith clearly and ineligible entries is detrimental to the spirit of the competition and would be discouraging to future entrants, myself included.
What's the point of a n00b like myself entering with common material? It's difficult enough. Doesn't need to be more. The fact that it actually got votes validates my argument.

I have seen plenty of contest winners enter common material. Heck- noreena isn't exactly exotic. It's not the material, but the cab. I have entered with exotic and lost. Of course, having a nice example of what you've got makes a difference.

Being the type of person I am. Hypothetically if that cab won. I would’ve told Tommy to give the win to the second place person, because they actually played by the rules. |

If what you got out of my last message was that I'd be a winner if I bought better material, maybe I'm expressing myself poorly. I know that's not the case.
My point is that folks are complaining about 4 entrants, when on the other hand there's active participation in ruining the spirit of the competition.
I'd love to see more cabs from you. You do great work and you've got unique material. It's always interesting. But if you want to run a themed competition, run a themed competition. If you want to show off and do your own thing, make a new thread like everyone else. What you're doing ruins the game for others. It's a bit arrogant to stomp around while denigrating the material other people use with comments like "Real montana agate. Not that discount brown stuff."
You've recently posted in another thread "I just want to put this out there. If I’ve ever said anything that comes across, arrogant or dickish, or even offended you, don’t hesitate to reach out to me." This is one of those times.
