my entry, nantucket sleigh ride (if you are a winter duck): this was taken from a bridge, my property line runs up the middle of this creek and my house would be about 100 yards to the left. KD

Wasn't this supposed to be picutres of ROCKHOUNDING? ? Rules.......... 4- Photo subjects may vary.... ie ....scenery, family members, rocks, animals, etc. Just calling 'em as I see 'em... At least this is the kind of contest I may have a chance at!

Location: Chloride, Az. Situation: Looking for Turquoise in the mountains north of Kingman; stumbled upon this fence adorned with folksy sculpture and some nice rocks on the ground on the other side.

Well here goes nuthin. My wife is disabled and does not get out much, and she loves butterflies. So I was mowing grass one day and this little guy was right in front of my mower. I picked him or her up and took it inside put it on my wife's pillow and it walked on her hand and all around, later I took it back outside. It was shot June 3rd 2006.

Why the hell did you shoot a poor defenseless butterfly?! Jus' messin wit' cha! Nice that you actually got a pic of one, they always take off on me before I can snap a photo. That's why I like astro's & scenics. The position of anything in the cosmos is predictable in advance and it doesn't move too quick. The scenery subjects don't move much either. I will post two more photos of mine if I have time tonight...

Is this eligible? - taken when my daughter was younger, trying to put those rubber fingers on grampas nose - needless to say, he had no circulation in his nose (he had a white tip) when she was done 20 minutes later.

[glow=lightgreen,3,300]The Sitting Lady[/glow][/color] Type: Dynamic Scenery Subject: Sitting Lady Falls Date: October, 2005 Location: Witty's Lagoon Regional Park, Victoria B.C. Canada N48° 23.305' W123° 31.317' Equipment: Tripod mounted Canon G5 Digital 5.0MP SFL camera, 50% Neutral Density filter Settings: 3.2 second exposure at F8.0, ISO 50 Processing: *Auto WB, *auto darkframe, *CCDRAW to JPEG, crop, resize Software: *camera firmware, ACDsee 4.1 Special effect: flowing water blurrs during a long exposure while static scenery remains sharply defined Comments: Tidal waters lie below this beautiful (albeit sparce) watarfall. I believe it looks best during autumn when the foliage changes and the water volume increases. It is a popular attraction for visitors to the park on their way down the 1km trail to the sand bar beach at the bottom. * Gaeter, you may want to run a GC search on those co-ords.

[glow=blue,3,300]Blue Sky Mine[/glow][/color] Type: Scenic Subject: gravel pit mine Date: June 2005 Location: Metchosin Road gravel pit, Victoria B.C. Canada N48° 24.39' W123° 29.25' Equipment: hand held Canon G5 Digital 5.0MP SFL camera, circular polarizing filter Settings: 1/300 second exposure at F 2.0, ISO 50 Processing: *Auto WB, *CCDRAW to JPEG, *enhance color saturation, crop, resize Software: *camera firmware, ACDsee 4.1 Special effect: two well defined contrasting colors and textures Comments: Sometimes you just luck out and get a good shot of an otherwise boring subject. Sorry about the JPG compression artefacts. This one has the most to do with rocks so far though.

All right Rob, tell us how all these wonderful photos got started. Didn't you read the "comments:"? Well, I suppose there's a story behind almost every photo, but doesn't a picture say a thousand words or something? I'm just not sure if you meant "how did my photography hobby get started?" or "how did each individual photograph get started?"... Either is likely to be a rather lengthy story full of boring details. ;D p.s. I just realized that photobucket resized my Lunar Gem photo so I re-uploaded it smaller than my original but larger than the one PB resized.

It took me a while to find these, but I remembered them after seeing Showtime's pictures. These were taken at Disney in Florida, last year(2005) sometime in May. It is the night time fireworks show looking down the main entry street at the Magic Castle. The show was timed with the song 'When You Wish Upon a Star', and it made for a very moving experience. I had a really cheap digital camera at the time and was amazed that it took such good pictures. It's really hard to get the timing down to when the fireworks explode. Hope you like them.

I have two pictures, I hope that is okay. Picture was taken on my Oklahoma trip with my sister and mother. Mother and I were standing across the Miami Lake reminiscing and I heard this man yelling looked up and saw this horse running around. Picture was taked June 16, 2006. The interesting thing about this picture is the day was crystal clear, all of the pictures except this one were clear. Second picture. This is a picture of a couple of buds on my mother's rose bush in our front yard. Picture taked May 16, 2006. All of our flowers were beautiful, exactly one week later we had a hail storm, luckily it didn't damage the flowers too bad. Tami

Oak Creek Canyon, Arizona - The highway is 89A and Sedona is about 15 road miles from this point past the canyon. This photo was taken by me 2 winters ago. PS I think I might post a larger pic when I get the time.
