Hi All, I received a surprise package in the mail today from Amy, huffstuff!!! She sent a card with it saying that since she was a newbie she couldnt fill my box with rocks so she decided to send a "taste of Texas". The top of the box contained some tasty treats and I soon realized I would have to hide them from my husband. Well, I will probably share but with supervision of course so he doesnt eat everything! Mmmmm, I am munching on the spicy mix as we speak. Under the goodies were some wrapped heavy "things" and once unwrapped I found some LOVELY lacy rough stone AND some plastic pellets (I can always use more of those ). I will probably cut the smallest piece but the two larger ones are going to be display specimens. They are large enough to be used as bookends, paper weights etc. I think I will polish the faces. I just love them Amy! And last but certainly not least........Amy somehow managed to fit a CRAZY SANTA in my box!!! On her note she had mentioned that her daughter said that she was going to be sad that crazy Santa was going to get cut up. Well, never fear.........he was my favorite out of the whole box and he is NOT getting cut up. In fact, he already has a home in my specimen hutch. Amy thank you from the bottom of my heart! I just love everything......the goodies, the pellets, the beautiful rocks AND especially, crazy Santa! ;D Shannon PS-I just realized, was I supposed to wait until christmas to open my package? Sheesh, Im as bad as a kid!

That Santa is priceless, Shannon, a display piece for sure together with its red hat. I would have done the same thing (including to open the pack before Christmass) Adrian

Shannon, I believe the lacy ones are Missouri lace agate, which polishes beautifully.

Thanks Shannon. What a great gift package, and I'm glad you didn't cut Santa up...you would have given Amy's poor daughter nightmares! He looks perfectly cheery and warm in the cabinet. What a nice assortment of treats. Thanks Amy for participating too. Steve

I got my package from Santa Holmes yesterday, I got some time this morning to open it. Thanks Santa!!! The opening of the box Below the first layer The whole orchestration laid out on the table The woods section The polished section, check out those pieces of fire agate and the polish on that big piece of plume and those little nodules, wow! The slab section, they are all very nice, but I especially like that piece of varascite. The geode section, some dugways, a cut geode full of purple druzy, and a polished geode. The nodule section, the middle is a condor agate. And the whole centerpeice of the collection is a signed copy of Steves' book "Sierra Madre West". Thanks Steve, this is worthy of the display cabinet. Looks like I made Santa's good list this year!! Thanks Santa!!! Merry Christmas Everyone..............................Tony

Hello, all! Today was an awesome day for me! I knew from yesterday that I have to pick a pack from the post office. But today, when i went there, not one but TWO packs waited for me ;D Lucky me I was at the post office by car, either-way my arms would have become long as orangutan's hands. I brought the packs home, and they were thoroughly inspected by my cats. Here's one of them: And then the fun begun: the first pack was my Christmas gift from my Rockin' Santa, AKA Tony-Catmandew. Thank you Tony, you are great! What beautiful pet woods! What a color on that Chryssocola! What a porcelain look on the Willow Creek Jasper! And many other great stuff, as you can see. But the rocks were packed in such a manner that, the best was saved for last. Look at this gorgeous Morissonite, killer colors on those slabs. And the cherry on the cake (in fact the melon slice ) was that giant slab of Burro creek agate. I had a blast! Just have a look at the whole present! Thank you again Tony, you were a very rich Santa! I just can't describe how happy am I! And that was not all! I received a second pack, which is from Karen - karenfh. That is her response to a pack I've sent her a while ago. What a luck for me to receive two packs in the same day! Karen, you were way to generous! You've sent me a lot of beautiful rocks, funny Nebraska stuff, T-shirts for all my family and other things. Look: There are some gorgeous rocks and pet woods there: some Turitella slabs and cabs tumbled by Karen (WTG, Karen, mirror shine on them!), pictural jasper, a geode ... just too much! Thank you both Karen and Tony, you've made my day and not only! I never would have thought a year ago that I'll find such a great place with absolutely AWESOME, WONDERFUL people! Adrian

umm...Adrian, did Karen send you a half eaten ear of corn?!?!? Or is that some fancy rock from the recipe contest that looks very convincingly of a half eaten ear of corn?!?! Aside from that slightly odd addition to the box - you got some AWESOME gifts there! Maybe the dollar in change is to make up for the nibbles off of the ear of corn...

Hey, everyone, I think the ear of corn was probably wearing sunglasses. See the postcard?
Lucky Adrian! Great surprises for you! We sure do enjoy all of the pics you post for us.

No present to share, but that's not the point. LadyBeaBea and Steve - thank you for making my Christmas special by being included in such a wonderful group of caring and sharing people. I thoroughly enjoyed putting together a package for my special pal and would be happy if that was all. No matter how rich or poor I am when the holidays roll around, I find that I am much happier when I share with others. I hope that someday my children find the same pleasure, as well.
Thank you all for your comments, encouragement, jokes, jabs, advice, and just plain fun.

Hello Everyone, I also received a very nice package from erbojones all the way from England! My camera is on the fritz, so no pictures but the minerals were amazing. There was a really nice crystal like rock from Egypt, some Hematite from England I think, some Lepidolite from England also. Also received a mineral set with 15 minerals in a nice presentation box. Santa's helpers must have told her I like Minerals a LOT! Thank's again for the great gift's. I will treasure them in my collection. Take care all, Ed M.

Thanks to Lady B and Steve, for the wonderful idea. I will post pix of Adrian's second package, soon. ;D We sent him a slice of Nebraska! I can't believe I found a pink NE shirt, what a hoot! And, yes, that's an ear of popcorn from the field my husband and his brother planted this year. Adrian and family can eat it or keep it as a cultural exchange. And a pheasant feather from last year (hunting has not been so good this year, ). And a few of our state quarters, including NE. Like Adrian said, he only needs 46 more states, haha! And Adrian has another hat for his wonderful hat collection. I can't wait to see him searching his beautiful countryside in a NE cap! And, of course, lots of pet wood for his collection. And a few 'American" cookbooks for Ina, I can't wait to see if she can find all the ingredients. We had a blast, and Adrian is not even our secret person! That person will be getting a package hopefully next week. With strange and wonderful things..... Karen

I won't have pix until Sunday or Monday--believe it or not we are having really bad thunderstorms right now as the outflow effects from Tropical Storm Olga sweep past Florida!!!--but I just want to give a shout out THANK YOU to Adrian and to Karen.
It seems that Adrian enlisted Karen (AKA: Elf 69033) to help him get a special package sent on its way to me. And Karen didn't want Adrian's box of goodies to feel lonely inside that FRB so she packed the rest of the box with goodies from Nebraska!!
Thank You, Adrian. Thank You, Karen. You have made Elf #2 (and her Hubby, Bob) very, very happy!
Pix will be coming soon, I promise!
Lady B
