Well, we finally got some daylight today. Here’s some rocks from the great box I got from Snowdog. I can probably id about half of ‘em, so feel free to throw some names at me. First one’s easy – some dryheads and Montana agates Turritella-like, but no spirals. A gorgeous blue dendritic agate, and a golden mossy agate from ? Real nice lavender, but what is it? Looks like azurite/malachite. Third one’s like wood or opalized wood. Mitzi/luv2hound got some of this too. The green one is colored like unakite, but I wouldn’t bet on it. The fiery red one is beautiful, but ? African maybe? The three on the bottom here, all I can say is the green one is colored like some imperial jasper, not a nodule but maybe seam type? Well, I flunked your Xmas id quiz, Dave, but thanks for sending a Snowdog box my way. Rich

Sorry for so many too large photos Parfive! I need to learn how to scale them down! Nice rocks by the way! That azurite/malachite piece is beautiful! I've not seen much of that myself - only pictures of finished pieces - it's as stunning in the rough as it is finished! Can't wait to see what you do with this stuff!

OWA - It wasn't you. The page was plenty full before you posted. That's the pain with these group threads, just like the Woodward Ranch Blitz.

Looks like I am going to be adding to the pain pretty soon because I have many, many photos to post in this thread. First, however, I want to post this link to Stonesthatrock--Mary Ann's thread all about her Sort-of-Secret Gift from Rocklicker (Steve): forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=Pictures&thread=21003&page=1I'll be back in a bit (I'm still getting all of my pix organized) and I am still trying to track down what appears to be the Gift Exchange's Grinch--one of the participants has not received her gift as of today! Back atcha soon... Lady B

Hey Folks! I really enjoyed the gift exchange and I feel a need to say a huge thanks to the magical elves who made this all possible, so here goes….. THANK YOU STEVE & KATE!!!! Without such wonderful people we could have missed out on one of the great highlights of 2007, so thank you both so much for organising and running such a wonderful scheme. It was Brilliant! I’d also like to extend my gratitude to all of you who participated by sending out their precious packages to fellow tumblers, Well Done You Generous Souls! The generosity of spirit and sheer kindness you have all shown have made this Christmas Festival very special indeed. I was privileged enough to receive a wonderful package of rocks from my fellow European and good friend Adrian. Since replying to several of Adrians posts over the months, I have enjoyed seeing his amazing rock polishing skills on a number of occasions. As a humble tumbler I was hoping to receive a selection of rocks to put through my machines, and Adrian did not disappoint. I opened my package to reveal a fantastic selection of individual tumble stones of all different types. They look fantastic and I’m looking forward to getting them rolling in the tumblers and looking all shiney. Thanks Adrian! [/img] I also received a great selection of agate like rocks collected by Adrian in Lesbos - a Greek Island in the Aegean. The rocks look wonderful and I’ve been told they take an amazing polish so I’m really looking forwards to putting them through their paces. [/img] It was then that I noticed the amazing Calendar! It is going to be lovely to track the months as they pass with this beautiful calendar showing scenes of Romanian Monasteries. Some of the sites featured in here are just amazing, Thanks Adrian! What a great present! To finish the package and put the real “icing on the cake”, Adrian included these incredible examples of Petrified Wood. I will enjoy the keyring every day, that’s soooo cool! And then I saw the sculpture. In one of Adrian’s threads he shared with us some fantastic Pet Wood chunks that he had been busy shaping and polishing. I commented on the beauty of the finished articles and enquired about the inspiration used to decide how to cut each piece, particularly the chamfered edges which made the pieces so individual. When I opened the package and saw the glorious example that Adrian had included, I was astonished. I shall treasure the piece and Adrian’s kind dedication always. [/img] [/img] So all in all I had a fabulous surprise when Christmas Morning came, and I very much enjoyed the whole gift exchange. All that’s left is to say a huge Thank You to Adrian, Kate and Steve for giving us such a fantastic Christmas surprise. Thanks you folks, I really was honored to participate. Cheers Harry.

Hello Fellow Gift Exchange Participants,
This has been an amazing, fun, and wonderful experience. I hope all of you enjoyed it as much as I have!
As Elf #2 I had extra fun matching up all of you with the best fit recipients but now I find myself the recipient of your tremendous generosity in many unexpected ways.
There is a very old saying: "To be blessed with an embarrassment of riches." Well, that is exactly what has happened to me. I received gifts from more than just my Match-Up, and while it has only taken me forever, I think you will all agree, as you look over the photos I finally got tweaked and uploaded, that I am the luckiest member of the Gift Exchange indeed!
I am going to separate the gifts in to several posts in order to do them all justice!

The first surprise gifts to arrive were from Raqy—she wanted to thank me for helping to organize the Gift Exchange, and Thank Me she did! She sent me a very yummy box of chocolates and some opals… Here’s a close up of those opals: She also sent me a very nice chocolate cigar but it didn’t quite last long enough to get photographed. Here is some of the foil that protected it in shipment: Thank You, Raquel! Your treats were deeply appreciated! Lady B

The next surprise arrived from Adrian—who decided that since I was the Elf organizing the Exchange I was not going to be surprised by my Secret Match-Up. Adrian enlisted the help of karenfh to surprise me with these wonderful gifts! First, there was a beautiful Christmas card—my first ever non-English card…a real treasure! Then I unwrapped these wonderful stones from Adrian’s adventure to the Isle of Lesbos!! Adrian also shared some of that gorgeous Pet Wood he has found in his native Romania: I also received more delicious chocolates (yes, they were opened when I received them but I certainly didn’t mind sharing these yummy treats with Karen. If it hadn’t been for her, I wouldn’t have had them!) And here is the gift I cherish most from Adrian (besides his friendship!). This is a fossil shell which Adrian found himself. I have posted it as a composite of several views. I think it is simply beautiful! Thank you, Adrian! Your thoughtfulness warmed my heart so much! And it was very clever of you to enlist Karen’s help to keep this gift a genuine secret!!! Lady B

Karen, being a typical RTHer, didn’t want Adrian’s box of goodness to feel lonely inside that FRB, so she packed it full with more wonderful goodies!! Getting to read her local newspaper was great fun! And I just love this hat…hat’s are very important here in Florida!!! This little darling came from Karen’s Tree to our Tree. It will be a permanent part of our Christmas decorations from now on: Here are some really nice leather necklaces that Bob and I can use when we finally learn how to make pendants out of some of our tumbled stones (and one of these days—polished cabs!) I love this arrowhead and I think that is some jade from Nephrite, too. Karen was a sweetheart to share these beautiful slabs with us. We really are hoping to get a cabbing machine in 2008! Here is a gorgeous pheasant feather—I plan to place it in one of the curio cabinets after the decorations are all put away—and there are also some lovely tumbled and rough stones. And Down there on the left…my own set of wings!!! I don’t know if Karen knew this when she packed them in her gift to me, but angel wings at Christmas hold a very special place in my heart! Thank you, Karen! You are one very special lady!!! Lady B

This next gift was a total surprise… Bikerrandy had kidded around with the Participants in the Gift Exchange threads. I checked with him to be certain he wasn’t actually signed up. He assured me he wasn’t and mentioned that he likes to play Santa on his own. He sure played Santa for me because he sent me not one, not two, not three, but FOUR absolutely beautiful pendants!!!! Not only are these an incredibly generous gift in their own right…these pendants will help Bob and I know what to aim for as we vibe tumble our own cuts! Thank you, Randy! You make an amazing Santa! Bouldergal (Susan) and Luv2Hound (Mitzi) both had their own respective Match-ups but they also sent me something very special… Susan made homemade fudge and to make certain we opened it right away, she carefully labeled the envelope with this notice: The fudge was simply delicious…I just managed to get a photo before we devoured it all! And Mitzi made this Christmas card for me! As a Graphic Designer myself, I truly appreciate the artistry of others! This is definitely a keepsake! Thanks so much for sharing happiness and joy with me, Susan and Mitzi!!! Lady B

And now I come to the greatest embarrassment of riches…my Sort-of-Secret Gifts from Ronda (akansan). I knew to expect something from her…I just never expected all this!!!! First…here is the incredibly heavy, fully stuffed FRB sitting under my Christmas Tree. I was very, very good and did not open it until Christmas morning! Ronda sent this beautiful card with a note explaining some background info on what I was about to find inside this treasure trove. She included a wonderful tutorial DVD… And a very helpful book (for when we get our cabber!) Ronda also sent some beautiful pre-tumbled Amazonite… Some Baby Brazilians… Some Botswana Agates… And some Condors… Bob gave me a second Work Force Saw for Christmas (one for rough cuts; one for finer cuts with an MK 225 blade) so I will be having some great fun with all those geodes!Ronda didn’t stop there. She found room for these beautiful rocks: And this drool-worthy Tiger’s Eye And this piece of marshmallow-center delight! (Well that’s what it looks like to me!) There were also these two gorgeous geode slabs… (Do you see an eagle’s head in profile in that second one?) Ronda knows that Bob and I are planning on getting a cabber in 2008 so she added a few slabs for us to enjoy cutting into cabs… Did she know I am a Pisces and love all things fish when she included this beauty in my box? And Ronda was also very generous in sharing polished and ready to be polished cabs for our delight… I have always admired the pictures of Ronda’s wrapped pendants. Now I can admire an incredibly beautiful one up close and personal!!!! Here’s another look at these gorgeous cabs and that pendant! And just to recap my treasure trove: Yep, that is what I definitely call an embarrassment of riches!!! Thank you so much, Ronda! Your generosity knows no bounds! So there you have it, Fellow Gift Exchange Participants! Proof indeed that I was one very blessed and very fortunate Elf #2! Lady B
