Here's a belated thank you to usaman65, whose FRB sent to me arrived a couple of weeks ago but I have had NO time for photos. There's some really cool fossils there and a couple of points (the real thing!) If I can ever get rid of the house guests and find anything in the chaos that has become all of the space in the house that I can hide anything away from the guests, I'll try to post some pics. This may take a while...since among other things, mr.puppie has some sort of bug...first time he's been sick (in the gross way) in 20 years he says...certainly not since I've known him. So far the house guests are not aware of this, hell, I wasn't aware of it until about midnight when everybody else had disappeared. We are supposed to be having 12 for Christmas dinner. I sure hope he's better....

What a gorgeous set of Book Ends! They are really neat and have alot of character. They are gonna look great holding up all your books! Cal...looks like you got a very nice hook-up too. I love it how everyone thought of the specific person; tried to send accordingly, and didn't even leave out the kiddies!...and I've even seen pets getting some treats. I really like that egg! What are the red nodules?? Lakers?? WTG Steve and Dave! Puppie...I hope your Mr. Pup starts feeling better. Christmas is filled with lots of love but it comes with tons of Chaos!!! Post some pics when you get a chance. I'd love to see your contents...especially the points. Wolfden, Rich....and whoever else is torturing themselves for the wait; (myslef included) only one more day!!!! I tried to talk my better half into opening mine, but she said no! And then you get it from the kids too...if he opens one; I get to open one! It just starts a snowball effect after that. :^))) I appreciate everyone sharing their gifts. THANKS. Steve

Thanks for the wishes, Steve Steve. He is mobile today, which is promising, and still maintaining secrecy with the houseguests, which is a good thing, since one of them is my 85 year old mother who would freak and be sure to develop symptoms just about when her plane home is scheduled!!

Ohhhhh...I have so many posts to catch up on and no time right now but I did want to report that the mail was just delivered and my Not-So-Secret Gift arrived. It's from akansan--Ronda.
I am not going to open it until tomorrow--thank goodness I don't have to wait as long as poor Rich and Dennis and Mitzi have been waiting--but I already know I am going to love what ever is inside!!!
I'll take pix and post them and catch up on everyone else's wonderful posts but right now, Elf #2 has tons to do. I figure I'll be ready for Christmas in just about two more days! ;D
Thanks whole big bunches, Ronda. And VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS Wishes to all of the other wonderful participants who helped to make the Sort-of-Secret Gift Exchange such a great success!!!
Now where did I put that sock full of coal for Bob?.......

WoW!!!!! My Secret Santa, Karenfh, is totally amazing! I am so overwhelmed with her generosity that I've overcome my usually camera shyness and am posting a picture of the best gift ever .......... the NEW RTH T-Shirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There where also a wonderful assortment of rocks and other goodies in the box. She is incredibly clever, having an inside cover on the box with a little switch for me to turn on before opening further. When I opened the box, there was my First Edition RTH Shirt with blinking Christmas lights. What fun! I'm hoping we do this next year - I'm gonna start working on my "to share collection" right away. Thanks again Karen. You really went overboard. Merry, Merry Christmas! Susan My BEST shirt!!! What a collection! I still don't know what's in the little clear bottle! Rocks Close Up Me and Zoe in front of one of my orange trees Oranges, Hydrangeas, Zoe, and me

Susan, Glad it got there! And you have the first..... but not the only! RTH T-shirt! Actually, I think it is the second in the USA; Adrian sent me one from Romania, and I asked how? So he sent the digital file, which I sent to my T-shirt lady, and Presto! And the rocks were pieces I had on hand. In the clear container are some teeny tiny amy crystals from our family rock collection and porcupine quills from the great porcupine incident of 1999. Be careful w/the quills, they can still stick you! Fun science stuff, and some (talented) people use them to make jewelry. The ring is coral and silver, and I got it from a guy here in town who is going to teach me his skills sometime. It's actually a bear claw. I hope it fits someone's finger! The youngite slab is cool; if you have a black light, it glows. I have it's twin slab on a shelf here. I think yours looks like a Trex ready to chomp something! I got it free from an older gentleman here. We were looking at his collection, and he had his son dig the amazing rock out of the leaves and tumbleweeds from under a bush outside his door. We made the Xmas ornament years ago, I simply pulled it off my tree. So the light thing worked? How cool! I was hoping.... I have a few of those little battery powered light strings left over from when my son decorated his tuba for a holiday concert a few years ago. You could hardly tell it was a tuba, lol! The T. Rose is a holiday tradition with my sister and I. We never touch the stuff until we are together doing the last-minute crazy Xmas shopping. Then, it improves our attitude, lol. And you look really, really good in that T-shirt! Lady B gets #2, and the rest go out to other members. I'm sitting here in NE, in the heavy snow, hoping my older son can actually get here. I love your pix! What, is it springtime in FL? Crop pants, bare feet, oranges and sunshine.... I love the seasons, but.... yours looks pretty good right now! K

I also recieved a very nice Suprise from Raquel. She sent Kate and me a special "Thank-You" gift for taking charge of the Christmas Exchange. (I was only there for Kate for moral support) Anyways, I opened the Box and loved what I found. Of course, I got a nice big Stogie, (chocolate), a box of yummy chocolates, and some nice Pink Opals, a nice piece of B.O., and a neat looking piece of Larvikite (sp). Thanks so much Raquel. Now, who wants to teach me how to do Intarsia??? Steve

My Secret Santa this year was Rockitman!!! whoohooo! I was soo excited when I saw my box sitting on the porch after returning from all the holiday festivities - what better way to end the holiday?!? Let me share what Jim (not Jeff - seems I changed your name! Sorry - I used to know a JEFF Potter and must have subconsciously made the switch!) stuffed my box full of - (Apology for the pictures - it's gloomy here and I'm not patient enough yet to build a lightbox!) I should also mention - Jim also stuck in a couple of CDs for me - new music NEVER hurts my feelings! Rock playin' music at it's best! At first when I saw the CDs thought maybe they were pictures - then when I saw his decriptions on the sleeve I realized that they were probably MUSIC - off to the CD player I ran. I didn't know whether to sit there and flip through the songs on the CDs or go open the rest of my rocks! Ah the decisions one must make at Christmas... First off - I found some specimens - my very first specimens to be exact! Barite - Feldspar on quartz - And this little beauty that Jim made - Then there were the slabs - The previous two backlit - and Two more slabs - shoot - forgot to get that one backlit... Then - some Vermont serpentine (from his "honey hole"! ) Next, some Savannah Chert - One of which had this interesting area on it - and these - and - Plus these - and one of my favorites - Throw in a little of this packing material - and (not sure if this is prepolish or just higher grade grit)- And that makes one well packed (and well received!!!) Secret Santa box!! Thanks so much Jim!!! I can't wait to see what that Serpentine looks like finished. I may find a use for all that other stuff too... (Actually already have some of that on display on a shelf! ;D )
