Great boxes of rocks everyone. Karen, I love the litter box shot. Good to see I'm not the only victim of connrocks packing material. LOL

Okay - here's the first round of the pictures. I hadn't realized how poor they were until I uploaded them. I lucked out with some Burro Creek, some great picture jaspers, a couple nodules that I can't wait to cut into, some great cab sized slabs, and some tumbling mix. A great all around package! Here's the Christmas Card Mitzi did for me: Here's the first shot of everything. The tin used to have Chocolate Chip cookies in it. They aren't there anymore. Here's another shot with different lighting. I'm going to have to find a different water bottle solution, as mine seems to have stayed in New Mexico. And I'll be back with better close-ups...

Jackpot Sheri! It's amazing how much stuff can be packed into a flat rater. thanks for all the pics, it looks like a whole lot of lovin' going on there. The unknown in the 4th pic down is Arizona Pet Wood. I sliced some of Jamies Pet Wood and I have a slab almost identical to that. Love that Thunderegg...really neat. Thanks fro posting all the pics; and Merry Christmas! Steve

Wow! Everybodies boxes look so wonderful. My box was marked,"dont open till 25 Dec". Dang it. So far I've been good, but it's been very hard. I hear it calling out to me. "Come on Mitzi, you know you want to open me". Aaawww. Dont know if I can hold out much longer.

Sieg - I'm so glad you liked your box - I tried to find an assortment to make it interesting but like I said, I'm still new enough at this that I'm not always sure what is "junk" to someone and what is a jewel in the rough. Literally sometimes! I'm still fascinated by it all so it's kinda hard to tell sometimes! A lot of those slabs are passing on the generosity that was shown to me when I was looking for some slabs to make Christmas presents - Stonesthatrock, Catmandewe, Stoner, RedwoodRocks, and MichaelJohn all sent me some slabs to use. I just couldn't keep all the slabs that were sent without sharing them the way they had been shared with me (though I did go through more than a few trying to get what I wanted and expanding my plans! ). I thought there were some neat ones in there that you could have some fun with - but without the above mentioned people there wouldn't have been near as many slabs. My thanks to them for their help and allowing me to have more to share this Christmas. Hope you can find some uses for all of those. I think some of that pet wood is too soft to do much with - but I thought they were neat pieces. Hope your Christmas is a little more pleasant than it's been in the past!

Poor Mitzi! She nicely marked mine "Open Upon Arrival" - I guess just in case I was too patient!

Well, I guess it's time that I post some pics of my present! Invisibleuser(Steve) was my Secret Santa. Steve sent me an awesome(and perfectly matched) set of Petrified Wood bookends - they are the biggest chunks of wood I have ever seen and have a spectacular pattern. You can almost count every ring, and the bark is still perfectly attached!?! They are about 7'' tall x 9" long and about 3" thick. Steve told me he believed they were originally from the Pacific Northwest region, and that they might be some kind of softwood, due to the tight grain patterns. He thought I might also like them for cutting cabs and slices out of, but there is no way I could ever consider cutting such beautiful pieces as these!?! They are definitely going on the shelf that holds all my rockhounding books!!!! ;D Thanks Steve!! Take a look at the set.... A polished side..... A view of the bark side.... The awesome grain patterns..... Thanks again Steve! ;D Dave

Wow, beautiful bookends, invisibleuser! I've missed seeing your name, dtcmor. Everything been OK? I remember how fast and furious everyone's posts were during Poetry of Images, so I don't know if the current levels are more typical! ;D
Sheri/rockhobbit, your unknown on the board with the midnight lace obsidian, the green and white one, looks like the tree moss agate from my spinach dip in the Rockin' Recipes contest. And does the sodalite really have those swirlies in it, or is that a trick of the light?
I've enjoyed seeing everyone's gifts, but I still love mine the best! (redwoodrocks rocks!) ;D
Merry Christmas, everyone!
Amy

Sheri, I may be mistaken but I think the one labelled bloodstone may be green moss agate - I was under the impression that blood stone was green with red (I could be wrong) I have lost my head with all these fantastic pictures
