I called the clinic at 8:30 am and they still hadn't gotten anything so I called the damn Pathology Department myself. Me: Dr. Corneia told me it was being tested at the hospital there, why is this taking so long. Path Dept: Well he wanted a second opinion. Me: Isn't there anyway you can rush this, (explained about swelling getting worse in throat). Path Dept: I can tell you we did get a report back this morning and we are waiting for Dr. ??--?? to look at it. Me: Is it mine? Path Dept: All I can tell you is we got a report back this morning and we are waiting for Dr. ??--?? to look at it. Me: Great, thanks for the encouragement! The only thing I've found out is where they sent it too and that was the U of M. I've got another Dr. appt. this afternoon to have my throat looked at. I can feel it swelling to the inside now and it hurts to swallow. It feels just like tonsilitis but I've had the antibiotics and all that already. At least my tooth has quit bothering me.

Cher- What the? ? Hmmm sounds to me like you are getting the run around- Call your doctor and demand the results- If he gives you the run around tell him your calling the insurance company and stopping payment until you see some results!

Apparently my calling the Path Lab helped them see the urgency as they called down to the University of Minnesota themselves.
Here's the scoop: The doctors up here did a couple different kinds of cancer tests and they came up negative BUT they could see that something in the sample didn't look right so they decided to send it to the U.
When they called down today, the doctors at the U said they were certain that I have some kind of lymphoma but they had not been able to identify it yet and we doing more tests which they hope to have the results for tomorrow.
Leave it to me, just can't do anything the easy way. At least they keep reassuring me that lymphoma's are the easiest cancer's to cure with a very good success rate.
Keep those good vibes up, you're not done with this "Goddess of Multiple Parallel Universes Full of Rocks and Apprentice to THE ONE" yet! I need to know who "THE ONE" is cause I know it's not Floyd!

Thank you Mark. I have been thinking about Cher and Pho. I check back from time to time to read the board. There is something I want you both to remember. You are your best health care advocate. Advocate for yourself. If the doctors tell you something you don't understand, question it! If you don't feel right about something, demand they do further testing. You know yourself and your body better than anyone. You have a right as a patient to ask questions and expect answers. It is their job to treat you and take care of you. All of you! Your mind, body and spirit. Whatever the illness is, it is VERY important that they treat all of you! What I mean by that, is don't let them tell you whats wrong and take these meds. As your body works as a whole unit. When something is wrong inside, it can effect many other organs as well. Which can cause even more problems. I learned this the hard way when my mom had to have emergency open heart surgery to replace her aorta heart valve. I demanded a meeting in her room. I had the doctors, surgeons on up to the hospital administration in her room. I demanded to know why she wasn't getting better and for them to do further tests to find out why! I did alot of research on the computer about her condition so I knew things weren't right and what to ask. One of her doctors asked me how I knew all that, I told him the internet! LOL! This wasn't an easy thing to do, but I could see my mom was getting worse. I was determined we were going to walk out of that hospital well! One of her doctors had the nerve to tell me if I didn't like the treatment there I could move her. Needless to say, I didn't like that remark. I told him no way was I going to move a critical patient, that patient being my mom! To make a long story short, I told them she wasn't getting well and they needed to treat her as a whole person. As when one body part isn't working 100 percent, it effects every other part of your body. Causing conditions you didn't know you have get worse and come to the surface and causing even more. In the end they rushed her out of the room and did hundreds of tests. The results proved my point. She had several other things going on with her other organs. Which in the end was why she wasn't getting well and it wasn't just that that's how open heart patients recover! My best advice is to be positive and light hearted! Advocate for the best health care you can get. You deserve it! You only get 1 chance to go around in this life and you need to make the best of it! You both have things yet undone in this life. It is not your time to leave here. This is just a little bump in the path of life. You will get through this and feel like your old self again. Just remember to BELIEVE!

Thanks everyone, just being able to come here and read this thread makes my spirits soar. I am so trying to look at this as a "bump" in the road and be positive, I know it can make a difference in how a person recovers. I've told everyone around me that they have to be positive too, we all have to believe. I think my son is having a difficult time, he wants me to come visit them really bad so I'm working on getting a ride to meet him part way since the tranny on my car is still not fixed. Anyway, I think seeing my grands would help, it's been too long.
Pho, please keep us updated on yours too. Xena, put both our names on that big ol' candle ok.

Cher-
We're thinking of you here too. Sorry to hear your throat is not getting any better. All the people here on the RTH are gonna give you some good "shock absorbers" for this bump. We'll do all we can to make it a smooth ride.

They are working on getting me an appointment with an oncologist right now and hopefully I will be in to see him sometime next week. I've met this doctor before, he treated my mother when she had colon cancer. With any luck at all, I'll be starting chemo within a timespan of no longer than three weeks. If they can't get me in to this guy right away they'll check into someone else so keep your fingers crossed that I can get in to see him next week.
