I can sympathize; the waiting was the worst part of my whole ordeal. I just wanted things to be done and over with. Best wishes, Wayne

YaY ... Yippeee ;D I'm so happy. I'm getting in to see the oncologist tomorrow. Was hoping I could get in today but he was totally booked so I have to drive about 90 miles. I don't care if it would have been 200 miles. With any luck, I'll be starting treatment by next week. I was so lucky to get this appointment for tomorrow, this Dr is like the best oncologist and very hard to get into. I'm just so relieved.
Tranny's gone on my car so once again it's a friend coming to my rescue. Just goes to show, with all the friends I have pulling for me, how can I not win!!

My appointment is on the 12th of Jan. I too read all I can get my hand on about anything that is bothering me. I ask a lot of questions..I don't realy care if the Dr. don't like me questioning them....that my job.....theirs is to fix me up. I will keep everyone posted as soon as I find out anything. I am realy realy hoping they are just going to do a CT and not a biopsy......but....I will have to wait and see. AThis old body has had a lot of wear and tear over the years so I guess something is bound to break sooner or later....so will stop and pick up more WD40 and duct tape....

Cher, Are you going to Duluth (Miller Dwain sp?)? Odd coincidence, as I'll be up there today with my mom. She was diagnosed with lung cancer last month, and will start radiation therapy next week. A very sad scary time over here.
Last year sucked (lost my Dad) and I don't think this year will be much better.

I sure don't want to give up, but my mother seems almost too accepting after last years lost. She really didn't even want to go in for treatment. She didn't want to drive 90 minutes to treatment, several times a week.
We did that horrible trip 2 - 3 times a week for almost 3 months last year, so there is some bad memories there. At least we are in a different hospital this time.

joanna -
I want to offer my sympathies for your loss. I lost my father last Sept. to pancreatic cancer so i know what you've been through. We were all fortunate that he didn't suffer too much and we all had the chance to say our goodbyes. I don't know that i will ever get over it but i am learning to live with it slowly. I'll be sending up some prayers for you and your mother.
Praying for Cher and Pho too. This message board is really special and Cher and Pho are a huge part of what makes it so. Get well soon guys.

Oh Joanna, I'm so sorry. I remember making those trips with my mother to see the oncologist but she was fortunate that she could have her chemo at the hospital up here. That 90 mile drive can get really old. I will keep your mother in my thoughts also, and pray that she realizes how much you still need her and will fight to live.
I don't know how close we'll be, I'm going to the Lakeview Bldg on Superior St. I'm sure it's close to one of the hospitals but I'm not even going to say for sure. I get lost the minute I head down the hill. Hope your roads are good all the way for you.
Pho, they did my biopsy during a ct scan, it really wasn't bad at all and never bothered me a bit afterwards. Whatever they do, I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers that everything turns out ok for you.

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. But realistically, half a lung has a growth and the doctors are not optimistic. She's feeling well right now, so we need to live in the moment, I guess. At least we are not being as blindsided as with my Dad. He had many unexpected complications from a surgery. What a reality check, this guy was a tough as nails dairy farmer, never took a day off sick in his life (7 days a week at work for 40 some years). He was suppose to be invincible.
Cher, are you going to have your treatments at Duluth? I'm not as familiar with this place either. Unfortunately, I guess I will be soon. Hope the weather and roads behave themselves for all the upcoming driving (In January, what are the chances?). Hope all goes well on your end.
