Condor, You might be right. In Atlanta the people are so happy he gave a sincere apology and found Jesus that they a ready to forgive him. "We all make mistakes" I hope that the shame he has brought down on us in this state will stay in Arther Blanks mind for ever. No NFL !!!!!!! This has been a hushed up thing since he was drafted in 2001. Peta people are not going to let this go. They will hound him always. vick was to do a radio talk show here and he canceled at the last minute on his lawyers advice. vick can't put two words together when he is interviewed with out help. They sure weren't going to let him do live talk show. I was already for the interview!!!!!! I think Goodall is going to try and clean up the NFL. Please,Please. SilverLass. (Go New England Pats) WE are the champions my friend!!!!!!! How many rings does vick have ? none he isn't that good!!!! Can you tell I'm angry?

Lizard, I don't think we disagree. I was just saying I don't know enough about him, the person. Dumb people do a lot of really bad things without realizing how bad they are. Ignorance is a powerful tool. I'd say he has rocks in his head but that would be insulting the rocks. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Vick took the big money and instead of trying to create a better environment he decided to kick the average person in the face and promote his own sadistic form of enjoyment. No way any more $$$ from me via the NFL or any other venture he is involved in. Yeah he found GOD but his God is spelled with $ signs and his apology is pointed toward the word money. If he really is contrite he should spend the next several years helping his fellow man and Gods creatures rather than promoting his need for our forgiveness and his own future. Boy it feels good to be on a soapbox and express my true feelings about a touchy subject.

Hmmm, so Vick found God. Must have been looking in a mirror with a dog standing beside him. After all, dog in a mirror is God!
Perhaps we should all throw this Vick guy a bone. If we each throw one pretty soon he'll be buried in a nice snack pile for all the dogs out there who would still lick his hand and wag their tails because dogs are some of God's most forgiving creatures. I think that's why they are here; they keep showing us what unconditional love is all about.
Of course, I still think Mr. V needs to be severely punished but the most fitting punishments I can think of simply aren't allowed here in the US. That probably doesn't make me very loving. I think I'll go hug my dogs.

This sickens me- I feel very sorry for this man- very very sorry for him- TO find no pleasure in life- to be so bored and pathatic that toturing animals is his only joy. I hope he really has found Jesus- and I really pity him if he hasn't (the deepest pits of hell are reserved for traitors)

This isn't a mistake. This is a lifestyle. An urban street culture of drugs, sex, "gangsta rap", materialism and violence which has been embraced by an entire Generation. A Pit Bull is just another thug accessory. It amazes me that one can be on top of the world and drag himself back into the gutter. Vick is a scumbag. I don't like the "N" word, but there you have it. Stupid as as stupid does. No excuses. Game over. :(S ![](http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/NMrocks/michaelvickdog.jpg) ![](http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/NMrocks/gypsy100.jpg)

I think the punishment is very severe, too severe for the crime and punitive without reason; since it is impossible to justify his actions, everyone seems to be piling on to Michael. He is wrong and is guilty and is paying a terrific price for his actions. The estimate is this will also cost Michael $20-25Million dollars. People commit white collar crime like the Enron Fraud ( which cost many people their lifetime savings and a Governor of California his job and the Utility Ratepayers in California and all over the country billions of dollars ) and pay less than this. Noone should harm animals for amusement, but they do. Mr Vick is receiving a very harsh penalty and will likely be banned from football for life without getting another chance. Meanwhile, we have people using Roids, cheating those who don't use performance enhancers and they get a slap on the wrist. Some of these Roid users harm their teamates and others and get nothing close to what Mr Vick is getting.
I hate Pitbulls period. I do not believe they have a place in our society; their purpose seems to be providing barbaric amusement and intimidation to people who should know better. They kill children and maim adults every year.
BTW, I saw no remorse in Vick at his conference, just a rehearsed speech from his lawyers; kinda like those poor little rich preppies who send in a great essay, written by someone else, for their college acceptance requirements. That, of course, is a personal observation; Those who root for Michael see the apology very clearly.
In sports (at least in the USA), a player is "DIRTY" when he is a thug on the "OTHER" team. When he plays for our team, he is an "Enforcer" or a Hard Hitter or has a lot of Hustle. Most of us so want our team to win, we give a pass to our side and deal very harshly with the other side.
I hope I do not offend anyone, this is just an opinion and even if I'm not being PC about Michael Vick, I still (and we all do) have an opinion. csroc

chassroc...I really & truly understand your post. When things like this hit the media & it gets spred world wide...it really does open up a whole new can of worms. And...sometimes that missdirects us all to the subject at hand.
There really is way too many evils in the world we live in. But I would drive myself into the looney bin if I thought too much about all the bad or wrong things that happen each & every day. I'm not a do gooder. I tend to muff things up on a regular basis...but I will go to my grave knowing I've never intentionally harmed any other living thing...EVER!
Shame on him and anyone else who can't say the same thing.

I think, since the increase in the blood sport of dog fighting increasing in the last ten years ,we need to be very aware of raising a generation of kids who would view animal abuse as a sport. WE do need to come down hard on famous people that partake in this blood bath . I'm with you Susan vick has been going this for most of his life. It is illegal to cross state lines with the dogs to fight . as of 2007. It is illegal to gamble.NFL rules. It is illegal in all 50 states to dog fight. Police are seeing more young urban street gangs dog fighting... We do need to put our foot down and say enough is enough!!!!!! Thanks for reading my rants.SL

A Pit bulls purpose is not providing barbaric amusement and intimidation, my last dog was a Pit bull and he was the most lovable pet I have ever had. They are not instinctively mean or vicious, on the other hand....The people raising them to be vicious and aggressive, those people are very dangerous and should be dealt with. I know pit bulls have killed children and attacked adults, I also know of several other breeds that have killed children and attacked adults but in most instances it was due to negligence or improper housing. The ASPCA was handing out signs that said, "Forget about the dog, Beware of the owner". If you get rid of Pit bulls, that wouldn't stop the attacks, those people would just find another breed to abuse and turn them into a dangerous animal. As for the man being charged, ignorance is no excuse, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that what he was involved in was baneful and wrong but like chassroc said, that is just my opinion.

Jamie, my brother had a pit bull and she was a super lovey affectionate dog too. We don't have defective dogs, we have defective people. Chassroc, remember that his monetary losses are due mostly to his involvement with gambling, not the animal rights issue.

Take a look at page two nmrocks. those are pictures of what the Falcons QB is all about. He should pay a big price for his hobby. Remember he has been fighting these dogs for years. This is not a mistake....

Please dont freak out on me you guys. I dont want anyone to get angry with me. I TOTALLY agree with what is being said about dog fighting. Again, I am a dog owner and Professional Pet Groomer and dogs are my life. I have also been raised with, and have owned pit bulls. And although stupid owners are often the cause, please do not act like instinct does not exist. I dont believe a specific "breed" is mean or vicious but many dog breeds have been bred for many many MANY years to be a certain way. What I see the most in my grooming salon is people that are paired with dogs that they should not have. They buy a Border Collie or Cattle Dog and just cant understand why the dog is nipping at the children's heels. Its INSTINCT. Im not saying the dog cannot be trained to not do that but its still a herding instinct bred into the breed. Or they buy a Lhasa Apso and cannot figure out why the dog doesnt seem to have any bite inhibition or it barks constantly when startled but they dont realize those dogs were bred to guard temples in Lhasa.
I would never categorize any breed AND each individual dog is different. But I can say after handling hundreds and hundreds of dogs over the last 16 years, there are certain breeds that are MUCH MORE prone to aggressive behaviors than other breeds. To say that every case of aggression is because of a stupid owner would mean that you are not thinking about instinct playing a part at all. Its like evolutionary change. If a breed is bred to do a specific task for hundreds of years, those dogs will develop those traits more than other breeds. Its like Retriever puppies. When they come from a long hunting bloodline, you can throw a decoy or dead bird in front of a 6 week old puppy and it will RETRIEVE IT. Again, instinct. I do agree that most cases of aggression are simply because the stupid owners allowed the behavior in the first place but I truly believe instinct also plays a part. I groom dogs that nip me and they bite their owners as well, AND THE OWNERS ALLOW IT. Some even think its cute or funny!!!
Another thing that irks me is that any time you hear about a dog that is timid, fearful, aggressive etc. everyone starts screaming ABUSE!!! That dog MUST have been abused. Dogs have individual personalities and just because they arent happy go lucky, in your face licking you, it does not mean they've been abused. Some people are happy, some are withdrawn, some are depressed, some have tempers, some are shy and timid. Dogs are the same way. There are A LOT of abused dogs out there and it breaks my heart. But not every quiet, shy or aggressive dog has been abused.
Ok, Ive seen the arguments that have gone on around here and I sure hope my opinion doesnt get anyone going. I dont think Ive said anything offensive.........I hope. I just wanted to add my 2 cents like everyone else.

I don't think any one is saying pit bulls are bad. I think we are saying that Michael Vick, Falcon quarter Back, has been fighting these poor dogs for years and if they lost he would have them killed !!!! He has used beagles as bait to get these dog to want to fight. His favorite dog (pit bull) was named Jane. Jane was killed because she lost her last fight. that's all I'm saying . (I think) I love animals and I hate people that abuse them. Michael Vick has abused dogs for years... I hope no one gets angry with me but this has hurt my heart. We do have to stop dog fighting. these dogs only want to do what pleases the owner. They didn't say to any one I want to fight to the death. They were chosen to fight to the death. This man is bad to the extreme.

Thank You again Susan, Bring it home. I don't think people understand how bad this Blood sport is. these dogs can't say no I don't want to do this. If they can't win then they are electrocuted, slammed on pavement until their scull breaks, or held under water until they die . This is what Vick and his Buds did. FBI has info from one southCarolina dog fighter that rolled on Vick. Plus three of Vicks freinds. 4 or 5 people can't be lying .
