mr. pup AKA Joe is coming along.
I confess I found this thread late and haven't read every post. I get that there's sort of a general plan about what's happening each day? I'd appreciate it if somebody could link me to this info. if it is somewhere! We aren't going to be able to get there until late on 11/1.
Thanks!

Actually I think we are still floating suggestions, that area has a whole host of day trip possabilities, from Fire agate claims to the Grand Canyon and old copper mines.
I've talked with Jamie about arranging a couple of day-trip excursions for those who are interested, and I agree it would be nice to have a list of things one can choose from, or one can always opt to just hang around the campground and pick up agates and jaspers.

It was the talk about the agate pit that got me.

Oh no!!! That rock pile looks dangerous! It's all I imagined and more! (Insert homer simpson drooling sounds here). If that thing were 5 minutes from my house, the entire thing would slowly migrate over to my place. Then I would roll around in it and make rock-angels like you would in the snow. Let me get this straight, that's one of the stops??? Good thing I am building a bucket-cart for the trip. Steve

I'm trying! If I get the job, I'm going to see if I can put off the start date (or get time off right away) for a pre-planned event. I should know by the end of next week which way everything will fall.

Just got a tent, sleeping bag, pad and some other stuff today for the trip! Woo hoo! BTW, the tent sleeps 3 (or so it says, it's 7 x 7ft) so there's room for two more if anyone needs the share (Skipper? Didn't you need a place, or were you going to get a room somehwhere?) Oh, and I haven't gotten the car yet (still pricing, will rent tomorrow), but it's going to be a midsize SUV that can seat up to 5 if need be, 4 comfortably. I will be able give people rides if need be. And Skipper, it turns out my wife will be flying in on the 5th at in the late morning and I will be picking her up , so if you need a ride (or anyone else) back to the airport I can take you then no problem.
Are people going to start posting lists of items to bring and food items pretty soon? Or am I getting ahead of myself here? Steve

Wait, the red moss agate is not near where we are camping?
What is likely to be on the rock menu on Sun 04-Nov? That is my only full day. I need to drive back to Pheonix on Monday for a 5pm flight, so I could do somethign closet to Pheonix on Monday morning - but just for an hour or so.
I should finish the drive up from Pheonix on Sat the 3rd just about 6:30. Will I be in time for dinner?

sigh....you guys are going to have the greatest time!! I so wanted to go, but just couldn't swing it with work... . Think of us, if any of you plan on offering boxes of goodies from your trip, I'm going to keep my eye out in the 'buy, sell, swap' board! Okay, humor me. How possible is it to fly out, rent a car and that room Jamie posted about, but not being able to have much to bring except what works as luggage? Is it possible to come, pick up small pieces sans much in tools, and easy to buy food and all those kind of things? I need to go through all the posts still to find out where the 'base' is, and if you'll be there the whole time. And how far from the airport! Dee

Dee - tools and such will be available as most people bring spares. Same with cars and even sleeping bags. Those of us that are driving (hopefully) would also be willing to send back flat rate boxes of what you collect. As for food, right now the discussion is communal food. You can purchase some in Phoenix if you so desire, as well.

i think jamie said she has extra sleeping bags and im sure there would be plenty of tools and jamie is workin on a menue that we are gonna chipin on -- and if worse comes to worse i have a full size pickup with a cap on the bed you can allways sleep in there --- so ya need clothes and a towel for showers and personals and just chipin on the food with us all
