Tell me again when the possible time frame is? I heard fall, then saw a reference to November, but you just said something about July. I'm confused.

Daniel, To me........November is Fall, or at least the end of Fall. It's just too hot here to do much of anything before then. I was saying I would have all of the details worked out by July so that anyone that was interested would have a few months to save money or plan to get the time off. I'm thinking the last week of October or the first week of November, less bugs, less snakes and cooler weather.

I'm up for less bugs, less snakes, and cooler weather. November also gives me more time to save. Great. Even if I change jobs in Sept, I should be able to do this. I just need to keep seeing it in my head.

Daniel, I will continue to post more pictures of all the areas I'm talking about so you can see it on the board as well as in your head.

DD - Those are some great desert scenery pics, and that red moss agate looks like absolute killer material! You've clearly found some first-class collecting spots. -Don

I gotta fly in, rental car is not a problem for me but transpertation to the rock sites would be. And, I am sorry to say that I don't have a tent and shame, shame, I don't even know how to put one up (I'm a room service type of guy).
I'm like mel though, I would love to get some of that burro creek purple stuff and your pics of the moss looks well worth the trip itself.
Now, Jamie give me a date so I can go buy a tent and start practicing so I don't embarrass myself.

You don't need a tent Robert. You can't see the stars when you're in a tent.

I'm going to try to make it out there. We are planning a visit to AZ sometime this year to see my mom anyway. My wife seems to be on board with the trip, especially because she can hang out at my mom's in Cottonwood- about an hour and a half away (I think). That gave me a great idea too! If anyone is having trouble convincing their significant others or family members that rock hunting among the cacti is a good idea, then send them off to Cottonwood to hang out. They can all go to Sedona with eachother (very close to Cottonwood) and have fun there eating fine food and running up our credit cards! Then we can all go rockhunting. Everyone's happy! Steve

Ok, this is my official invitation to all.
RTH Fall trip It is set for November 1st through the 6th or 7th. We rally at my house then hit the road for Burro Creek, set up camp and spend the entire week collecting at several locations in and around Burro Creek, Brenda and the surrounding area. The varieties of rock you can expect to find are banded agate, brecciated Jasper, Chalcedony, Opalite, Gem Chert, Jasper, Apache Tears, (and in another area a lower grade odsidian), amethystine, Chalcedony Roses (some pink and some orchid), blue agate and several other types of agate that I don't know the names of. We will have detailed maps complete with highlighted routes and directions to the most extensive hunting fields we know of and also areas we haven't been to but have copied directions directly from our resources we have on Arizona gems and minerals. I'm asking that anyone planning on coming, please RSVP with this information.
Number of persons/children that will be able to attend
Method of transportation to and from Arizona...Anyone planning on driving will probably be recruited as part of the convoy, hauling passengers, supplies, camping gear, etc.
(For anyone that will be flying into Phoenix, I am asking that you schedule a flight that will arrive on or before the 1st of November sometime before 12:00 noon. Transportation to and from Sky Harbor airport will be worked out for those of you that are flying in. November 1st and November 6th and or 7th are the days we will be able to taxi to and from the airport. Anyone planning on coming will be a hostage for the entire length of the trip. Because we will be set up in Burro Creek after the 1st, we won't be available to pick up people arriving late. Anyone that can't make it here on the 1st has the option of renting a car and then driving to Burro Creek to meet up with us. Any two wheel drive car or truck can make it to the camp ground with the greatest of ease.)
More info shortly!!
