Hi Sands, Yes I will have to give them a $10.00 deposit, no big deal. I really don't think tow straps will be needed, at least I hope not. I wish it wasn't still a couple of months away.

Hasn't anyone talked Stoner, Nephrite, or Redwoodrocks into going? I'll be flying out of San Jose, CA so any of them (Hint) are welcome to keep me company on the trip there. BTW, I just cut up some purple burro creek agate tonight and just about lost it at the idea of finding some of that on the trip. Very pretty agate. Steve

Hey Sands, --- I'm wanting to go but need to find a couple "riders" ( maybe help with gas , from whereever I pick them up ) --- no serious inquiries yet -- it's about 1700 miles one way from Illinois --- but I know I couldn't fly out and afford to ship all the "rocks" home! ;D --- got a silverado extended cab and a 12' enclosed timberwolf trailer for supplies/ rock -- if anyone is interested let me know-------------------

hey guys we got some members that are thinkin bout goin but the price seams too high-- here goes the perfect chance if two or three people in the line of fire wanna band together and cut the price of travel way down this is your chance get in touch with snowdog and ride down together hell share the driving and cut the time on the road in half too

Snowdog, darnit I hope you get some bites for the trip out. If you get at least two it'll be a lot cheaper than flying. I just did the math in my head. I'm intending fly out and ship all the rocks back in a whole lot of FRB's but that's because we have a voucher. Driving is really the way to go. Steve

Whew, that was a close one!
I just got excused from Jury Duty which would have taken three weeks and consumed all of my vacation time, but they cut me loose as one of the last pre-emptive dismissals, (I guess the ex-navy pilot plaintiff didn't think he wanted a hippie on his jury)

HI Sands, I am pretty sure Stoner and Kim are going and I am hoping Kim can bring Morgan so Katelyn will have a buddy. You can also add Will Cox to the list and Beefjello. Snowdog, we will find someone to help with the expenses, you are the reason I had Mark add the maps so anyone that is interested in coming please add your names and addresses. Thanks.. Oh and BAZ said he could probably make it for a day or so.

I made the reservations with BLM Kingman office on the 22nd of this month, it was a $35 deposit and I reserved it for a week November 1st through the 7th. Our permit number is
3480896
Anyone that is planning on being there should probably write the number down. I would still like to rally at my house but anyone planning on driving, like Mel and his buddy, may just want to meet us at the campsite and if you have this permit number there should be no problems with hanging out or setting up in the group campsite. Well, its only two months away now, I wish it was only two days away instead of two months but oh well times flying!

I think I can make most of the trip. Looking for feedback...I can fly from Calgary to Phoenix pretty cheap on Nov 1, putting me in there around noon. I've got a car rental lined up for $20/day.
Here's the thing. I have done very little camping. I don't own a tent, sleeping bag or any supplies, so I booked a hotel in North Phoenix which is super cheap (of course, it's a super 8!). The commute to the site isn't that long and I like driving, so was thinking of going back and forth.
See any issues? If anyone else wants to do the hotel thing, I can transport, and would also be available to get supplies from town in the evenings. I am open to any suggestions that save money :-)

Skipper, I am sure you can stay in someone elses tent if you want to save more money and not stay in a hotel room. You can stay in mine if you want but I have to get one first. I have not camped in at least a decade and will be getting supplies pretty soon. I don't know the itenerary and we might be going to other farther places. The drive from Phoenix to Holbrook might be a long one. Otherwise, if you don't mind the driving it should work. Steve

Holbrook is pretty far out of the way if your talking about Phoenix to Burro Creek.
Wikiup is only about 17 miles north of the campground, although I'm not sure what's there for rooms.
Wickenburg is 60 miles south and I know they have several decent hotels
North part of Phoenix is more like 80 miles, are you sure you want 160 miles per day commute?
