I hope you don't mind, I copied your recipe. Gonna give it a whirl on my next batch of rocks. Your rocks turn out beautiful! Great job! Thanks

For the ye olde pics throughout the thread that have been blurred and have the photobucket water mark on them... There's a way around that if you want to see the original photo in all its glory. For me, clicking on the image did nothing, it did not bring me to the original or anything.
Here's my workaround
Right click image Open link in new tab You get a URL like this: or this: You still see the blurred and watermarked image... Delete the leading "img." part off the URL and slap enter It should take you directly to the site with the original picture

I'm taking a look at this thread again for the first time in months... it appears to me that the photos are all back and without any watermarks. Is that how others see it too or is that somehow related to me being the one who posted the pics?
When I go to photobucket itself it tells me I am over the photo limit and need to upgrade to access my account. Haven't decided if I will do that or not, but on the plus side I see it's $60 a year now, rather than $399.

As incredible as the shines are, I must ask you Rollingstone, what is your method for taking the pictures? That too is an art in itself. Cell phone camera? Special lighting, etc.

I use a "bridge" camera, in my case the Canon Powershot SX image-stabilized line. So the SX 20 for most of my photos here, maybe even an earlier version for some really early photos. Currently I use the Powershot SX-60, though I don't think any of the photos I've posted on these pages are from that specific camera, but I've also posted some more recent photos on the Facebook version of this group, and those photos are mostly from my Canon SX-60 camera. I take photos outdoors, in bright but indirect light, winter and summer. Never in direct sunlight. Never under artificial lights. I think that's pretty much it!! Don

No pretty pictures in here anymore it seems, so let me post some old ones. I've completely restructured my photobucket account to organize everything by year, so all my old links in RTH are probably broken. But going over some old pics, here's some tumbles from 2005 and 2006... -Don This is agatized red horn coral: This of course is Arizona petrified wood (rainbow wood): Carrasite jasper: Wildhorse picture jasper: Flint ridge flint: Canadian river plume agate? (not sure) Tahoma agate (jasper?), from the Pacific NW: That's enough for one post! Does anyone know if rollingstones flint ridge flint has been heat treated to get the color? I checked his profile before asking but he hasn't been on since 2010 Thank you in advance

A selection from 2007.... Imperial jasper: A big chunk of Stone Canyon jasper, tumbled with the garnets in the photos below. The pea-sized garnets balanced out the palm-sized piece of jasper, and tumbler barrels alway like balance. ;D Someone named this the "Earth Heart" -- me like! Garnets (originally from India I believe, but in this case from Ron's Rocks): In the rough: After tumbling: Turritella agate. This material is really variable and can have lots of soft spots. I hand-picked some nice rough from a rock shop in Arizona, while on vacation there: How did you tumble your garnets? Did you alter the process because they were so small?

Must be nice living inAmerica and being able to get so many brilliant rocks to tumble. They put them on Ebay UK but the postage cost are around £ 48 for a kilo of stone, which makes it very expensive. Just trying out some stone from a company here in the UK called Rock Tumbler. They have soe decent looking stones at a very good price. Quite a lot of Scotish agate. That should turn out quite nice I hope, will have to wait and see the results of this batch when it is finished in about a month or so's time.
