Update! All 10 sets are gone! Holding a couple for members I promised who haven't contacted me yet. I could do these again after Christmas if there is enough intrest. Adrian has offered to take your ideas and make a whole new set. You don't have to buy a set to send Adrian your ideas. This is going to be fun.............. Steve Over a year ago, Adrian made some CAD drawings and sent them to me. I had them laser cut and offered them up here at RTH. Got some more, think I took care of all the IOU's and have only 5 sets left. You can't get them anywhere else! $25 plus $5 for flat rate shipping. [/img] Can do PayPal, check or MO

Adrian....... Sounds like a good idea to me. If your willing to to gather all the ideas and put them on a CAD program then I'll send them to the cutter. Imagine that, your own shape, immortalized and laser cut into plastic. Sounds like Adrian is ready for ideas....he'll need about 50 of them! Let's see how many 'new' shapes are out there.

Great! Steve, if you agree with it let's make this thread the place where all members could post pics with sketches of the shapes they have in mind (hand-drawn or whatever). Then I will try to draw them in Acad and send the files to you.

If you still have a set left, I'll take it.
If you don't, that's my fault.

O.K. I spent a little time yesterday thinking about shapes for the new templates. Here are a few ideas. Butterfly wings - flip the template and have a matched set for pendants etc. Stars - 4, 5, 6 & 8 point. Yin Yang - one half of the symbol so that after cutting two cabs, you can rotate one and have them match & create a doublet if you wish. Ice cream cone shape 7 Stone series - several different series that when cut together form a set. Here's a pix of one set I'm currently working on. Grooved - a normal oval except with little "fins" that need to cut with a flexshaft. S or Leaf - I don't know if these names are correct for this shape. Basically it's a rectangle with two of the opposing corners rounded off. Ignore the faceting. I know these aren't the easiest shapes to cut. I am always looking for something different. I'll try to draw some of these shapes.

Hey Wolfden. I'm glad you like some of the ideas. I won't ever be offended if you think something is crazy/bad/hideous/unworthy of mention. Some time us rock critters should get together and go howl at the moon........err........I mean the big glowing rock in the sky ;D What if the ice cream cone was in two pieces so you could cut two different kinds of stone and then join them? We could all make our favorite flavors. If you want to o.d. on cab shapes, go to www.dikragem.net/downloads.html Scroll down to the 26 page download. Wait a bit - it's a huge file. Fasten the seat belt. Hold on. Cab-elicious overdose.

Sounds like RocknCritter has a some good ideas for templates. I especially like all the shapes on the link he provided. I'll PM Adrian to see how he's doing and will be waiting for more of you to send in your favorite shapes to be immortalized in plastic! Steve

I just PM'd some scans of cab templates to Adrian. The scans were not so very good, so I hope Adrian can work with them. I did them in black and white to make the file smaller, but they do not look very good. Anyhow, these are designs mostly based on Sam Silverhawks designs, and my use of French Curves. Woody
