Helen - I was thinking more about sending out Saturday actually. There's just too much going on during the week to make it to the post office. Mike - My boys have camo PJs ...

That's great Paul!! I wasn't sure how much time you had, but I figured you meant you needed the weekend to properly look at everything with the kids:).

Hi everyone: Sorry for the delay. The flu is back in our house, twice in the last two months. So, we didn't get through the whole box. The boys took what they wanted and I simply repacked everything else. Here's the tracking number: 9505 5109 3553 3050 5076 48 Photos: Arrival: Partially unpacked: What Andrew selected: What I selected: What Nathaniel selected: What went in: Eight Mexican geodes (sounds like a Christmas song): A selection of slabs: Top row is a group from the Calico Ghost Town area of California. Bottom row - left side is marble (I think, can't recall where I got it). The right side is obsidian from the Eastern Sierras near Parker Lake. The box repacked: Funny, I feel as though I took a lot out of the box but I had trouble repacking everything ... Took a couple of tries to get it to all fit. Lynlee "helping" Andrew with his research project on the gold rush. Anyway, sorry for the delay. This flu is getting tiring ... Thanks Paul

Sorry the flu bit you guys. It hit us over the holidays and just lingered for close to 5 weeks. The package is in Anaheim, CA on route to Seattle, WA. I can't wait to go through and add too. This is so much fun to watch and I hope to fill it with goodies as amazing as the ones put in so far. Cheers, Matt

Ok is really early in the morning and I'm heading to bed. I thought about the unopened box sitting there waiting patiently for me to come home. Got home at 12am and started unpacking at 1am. There are so many fun things to unwrap, I didn't take account the time it would to unwrap.
I have gone through everything and started taking pictures of what I took out and what I'm putting in. I'm heading to bed but should have everything packed up and posted around 5pm with a tracking number. Have a great Friday and I look forward to posting tomorrow.
Matt

First of all Helen thank you so much for putting this all this together for us. I spent a lot of time going through all the contents opening all the slab and there are a lot of slabs. I had a blast and could of stayed up all night going through and wetting all the slabs and rocks but my eyes were shot from starring. I slept it off and got right back into the box to finish today. The box is already off and shipped at 3:30pm today the tracking number is 9405510200881678219927Here is the box as it arrived And opened up Man that is some good packing Paul. Just about every inch of the box was used. I started unpacking There was a mix of well marked/described packages, to items with no marking when going through. I found myself sitting in front of the computer trying to figure out what the names of items were by going through all the post pictures and descriptions. I really enjoyed it though because it gave me some good research time to learn material I have never seen or heard of. Some items that had their names rubbed I looked up and took a Sharpie to the baggie’s and wrote back on them. I didn’t do as much as I would have liked to though. I also re-bagged with new zip log bags to where things were falling out. Here are pics of Daddy_Oh And here are two that I took to work with The opals were so pretty. I had to have one and pulled the one from the very right of the photo. It is going to go in my display case till I have more time behind the bench to play with I grabbed a Fairy Cross and here are pics of those I wanted to take pictures of all the slabs but there were sooooo many of them. All were very nicely wrapped and such amazing colors and patterns. Some slabs had broke even though it was so well packed. So here is what I took out Took these out too to make more room. I think the bag is wonderstones? And not sure what this green jade looking cut is either. Helen, your glass piece you made me was broke during shipping but everybody else looks great and they are all accounted for too I was a bit overwhelmed being so new to lapidary my concern was take something that might have been really pricey and not knowing it, then not adding equal value back to the box for the next person/s. The other thing I was thinking about is, not everyone was looking/requesting for slabs and the box was filling pretty quickly with slabs. So I decided to add more rough material I found cool and picked up locally in hopes that others coming up will enjoy them as much as I do. Here is what I added to the box I forgot to reference size in the pictures, but I did label them before shipping. Left top is leopard skin jasper (about 6.5x4.5) – Middle Very bright green Washington Serpentine – Top Right very solid piece of common opal stone from Washington. Left bottom Turritella Fossil Agate – labrodorite – Rainbow Obsidian – Dendritic Soapstone– Blue Tiger (hawk eye) and front left is another solid piece of opal stone. Here are some other items members were looking for including stands form Rock Shed and other display stuff. Also some findings and tracking bugs for Geocaching. I forgot to add this in to but its my favorite scale for weighing out rough when tumbling. It is a luggage scale and does pounds. The handle is the white scale part and you hang weight from the black strap loop and very handy. All boxed up Thanks everyone for all the things you have added and the things I was able to take away from. I have them all labeled by who put them in and when I get cabbing what I pulled I’ll reference yours for sure. I’m very blessed to be a part of RTH. Thank you for being so amazing. Matt

Well darn, Matt, I sure am disappointed that the glass piece that Helen gave to you broke during delivery. You placed some very nice materials and goodies in the box. The serpentine and opal has me drooling.

It’s very sad that your gorgeous glass gift broke. Yours was long perhaps there's a way to fix it and get 2 pieces out of it.
Excellent report Matt! Great pics, descriptions, comments and goodies! A+++ for you! ;D

I'm jumping in here to tell a story about the FIRST traveling box for newbies:
Pat was behind me in the box rotation and she put in a gorgeous pair of silver chain maille earring I had seen on her website. She mentioned on the board that she wanted some snake skin agates (which I had). Being behind me, I could only pay it forward at the time. Later mailed her a few of my snakeskins. Imagine my surprise when I got back from Tucson and there was a box from Pat with a lovely necklace!
I'd just like to send out a public thank you to Pat. I've been tied up with work and some faceting so I haven't been on the board a lot lately. I'll try to put up a Tucson trip report with pictures of all the cool rocks we saw.

Great swap Matt. There is too much worry about replacing equal value because everyone values things differently. A couple of things you put in would be really valuable to me and you might think it has little value. I think you way more than covered what you took out. Great photos too. Jim
