Very neat! Thanks for all the great pix Matt! I'm sorry the glass broke on you... grind it down into 2 cabs:)?
The point of the box was for everyone to get a bit more familiar with the others here, and share with each other. Long as everyone feels they're having fun, that's what matters:)!

I had a blast with the box and will continue to enjoy all the followups. I love my glass piece and through it broke it will now make to really need pieces (I'm thinking around our necks I have written all the names of items I took out and who put them in the box so in the future when I work with them I can show them off with member names of honor. Thanks again for the opportunity to join Newbie Box Swap 2. Matt

Wow! I've been checking this forum for a couple years off and on for research and stuff just recently decided to stop being a jerk and try to actually start posting I never knew you did anything like this rock swap. This is really cool! I would definitely like to be a part of it next time and I've got lots of (I think) nifty stuff to share. Great job, guys! -Mike

Wow! I'm checking in on the box after responding to an e-mail from Pat this morning. I haven't had much time lately to do this but today I just *had* to make time! So much good stuff, and so much good will--almost mind boggling in a good way--thanks so much, all, for the smiles!

This is the 2nd Newbie box, and so far, been doing it 2x a year. We have been doing it with a 2 month signup period, and then the box takes 2-3 months to complete the 'round' with the signups. The newbie box is for people, even newer people or people new to rocks, who have participated on the forum since part of the point is to get to know others in the forum and feel part of something forum related, so we ask that you have 50 rock related posts minimum. Sign up again won't be for a few more months, so you have time to get to know people before the next one:).

The box just arrived. I finally got to the bottom of it and took photos along the way. Now to unwrap them, take more photos, and see what I want to keep.
The packing job used up every cubic inch! I"ll have to remove a lot to get my stuff in! ;D
Pictures as soon as possible. Loading pictures via the new Photobucket will be the hardest part. Some beautiful things in there!
Thanks, everybody!

The box is on its way to Susan. Expected time of arrival is Saturday, March 2. I'll post photos as soon as I can.
Tracking number: 9505 5106 7361 3058 4917 29 This number isn't live yet.
It was a lovely experience. I thank Helen for organizing the whole thing, and I thank all those who came before me and put such lovely pieces in the box.
Thanks!

Yes! Unfortunately, my post office is closed on Saturday. But I am armed, with a new (to me) camera, and USB cord that arrived today, and fledgling new camera skills. Hopefully it will all come together on my ancient lap top lacking a number of keys due to the cat and I will be able to share it all!

Tonight I had a chance to go through the rocks and slabs I picked from the swap and could not for the life of me ID or find a pic from a member who added it to the swap. I love all the color blotches in this little slaby. Any ideas? Thanks Matt Attachments:

Very nice piece Matt and Mark!!!
See this is why I am such a pain about pictures!!! A box like this is most fun if everyone gets to oogle, learn something new, see stuff they haven't seen before (not JUST the recipient, but everyone), get jealous of what people got or put in, etc. No pix, no point.
So I have been a bit pushy about the pix... but comon, if it's NOT your turn, isn't it fun to see what someone else got:)? It's like watching someone at a birthday party get a bunch of presents, and seeing the recipient hide it in their bag to 'open later'. What's the fun in that for everyone else:)?
PICTURES!!!

Oh, Oh. In the new photobucket, I've added my photos, described them, went to the Links (per Dora's helpful tute), but there isn't the link I need, the IMG link to copy and paste into RTH.
My Link choices are: Email and IM, HTML code, and Slideshow link (coming soon). No IMG!
Where is it? Suggestions? Thanks.

I see none of my descriptions made it through photobucket. I'll put them under each photo. 1 This is how the box arrived. Very well packed. Every cubic inch was occupied. 2 Here's a shot of some of the items in the box. 3 More items in the box. 4 In the box to share with everybody. This is a beautiful and wonderful reference. Thanks, Lowell! 5-This is what I took; some amazing rocks. 6 Shot 1 of what I added: green art wire and some slabs. I wrote what the slabs are on the individual slabs --- if I knew. Did not know the gold dotted two pieces. The baggies in the lower left have been emptied to better show in the next photo. 7 All metal is sterling except top right earrings which are sterling and red brass. Earwire is sterling. Top left is a pin cz pendant. Bottom left is sterling and glass beads. Bottom right is a dark red garnet in sterling pendant. 8 All packed and ready to go. I repacked some. It all fit. Amazing! It's interesting to see what others have and what they would like. Saw new material, which is always good! Thanks to all who came before me. I hope those after me enjoy what they see, too, and find items they like. Pat
