Very nice piece Matt and Mark!!! See this is why I am such a pain about pictures!!! A box like this is most fun if everyone gets to oogle, learn something new, see stuff they haven't seen before (not JUST the recipient, but everyone), get jealous of what people got or put in, etc. No pix, no point. So I have been a bit pushy about the pix... but comon, if it's NOT your turn, isn't it fun to see what someone else got:)? It's like watching someone at a birthday party get a bunch of presents, and seeing the recipient hide it in their bag to 'open later'. What's the fun in that for everyone else:)? PICTURES!!! Both Mark and I took pictures of this piece in our post of what he put in and what I took out. Some items in the box to have no ID's or the names have rubbed off the material. I was going through all the pics to match up items I took so that I could give them their proper ID. So when I do something with the material in the future I can give credit to who I received it from on the forum. When I was going through last night I didn't see this particular slab but sure enough it was there and I just overlooked. I hope nobody feels I was hiding somethings as I have this slab pictured on the lower left of my photo taken of what I took.

Gosh no Matt. Sometimes I have to really think when I post on this thread, because I don't want anyone to think I point fingers about pix taken or not taken.. but sometimes it looks that way, if unintended. I tend to look at the whole pix, and not every single piece in it. I know when you have that many pieces, it's overwhelming to take or post enough to really show what's there.
It's nice when people post individual pix of what they take out or put in, because we get a clearer view, but for no other reason than drool purposes. It's hard to get pix of everything, or to focus in one piece at a time, so we can't really expect that. But like you just did, posting a pic about a particular piece, it's easier to zero in on it, and it's a beauty!
We have no reason to question the integrity of anyone in this box, and we don't. The only complaints ever are of the 'What'd you get? What'd you get?' variety:P. Very neat, everyone's awesome!!!

Thanks Helen for the clarification. I got exaclty what I wanted from the box and that was getting to know RTH members, sharing our excitement for lapidary, getting to know different material from around the US and have fun. I tried to get the box from my house and back to the post office in a 12 hr turnaround to keep it moving. In doing so I wasn't able to ID some of the materials I grabbed from the box. I am excited now to have ID's almost all the items I grabbed and look forward to showing before and after pictures of what I do with them in th future, giving credit to the Rock Swap and RTH member when I work on each piece. Thank you again Helen for making this available for us and all the hard work you have have and continue to do keeping the box going. Matt

The box arrived safe and sound today, just a few bumps on the outside. I took photos, copious photos, then my camera batteries promptly went dead on me. In my practices gearing up for new camera/new software/traveling rock box, I took photos of several slabs that I put in and a bunch of preforms--14 I believe. There is a list inside of the plastic thingy that says which slab is which. I also managed to squish in several "specimens," and about ten finished cabochons. I took pictures of all but the cabs--didn't think I could fit them in, but once I did, I sure wasn't taking them back out to photograph. Do I need to say that Helen's glass is spectacular? Or that Matt, on his first opal collecting trip, instantly recognized the "good stuff?" Or that Pat's jewelry is beautiful? Here's the photos I was able to upload before the batteries kicked the dust:[ ][/img] [ ][/img] Box will be on its way tomorrow, hopefully I will get the rest of the photos on tomorrow as well! Oh--I almost forgot, the slabs are San Simeon Jasper and Keegan Ranch Tube agate.

Box on the way to Jan, 9505 5104 7036 3064 4498 29, expected delivery date of Friday.
Tonight I will again try to upload the rest of the photos. Actually, my problem is not uploading, it is getting them from the camera to my computer. We shall see!
Thank you, Helen, the slabs are two of my favorites, and although they don't appear so in the photo, they are quite large and could easily be cut in half. The clearish tube agate is really ethereal cabbed.

Hey y'all, I got a chance to shoot the breeze on the phone with Helen today!! ;D Not sure if I'll have internet access when I receive the box, so I'll send Helen pics and the delivery confirmation number via cell phone/text messages if I am unable to send it online. Hope that is okay with everyone. Hoping I am able to get online 'cause I sure would like to download Lowell's files! Here's what I'm adding to the box. Since I miscounted the Georgia staurolite blades and Lightning Ridge opal, I've added those that I left out when I sent them to Helen. Tried to adjust the color so y'all could see them better. Next to the GA staurolite blades is a slabette of purple Lepidolite with sparkly mica Super Cerium Oxide in the bottle Thumbnail/specimen boxes Red Adventurine with sparkly mica Not sure what this slab is called, but it is very pretty Montana agate (or Brazilian?) Deschutes jasper Biggs jasper (?) Obsidian Namibian Blue Lace agate rare Vistaite jasper from Oregon Chicken Track jasper Owyhee jasper Packed and ready to ride in the box to Geoff's home

Hope your Internet access is available and well. It's a bummer not having access.
Your contribution is lovely. Your slabs are outstanding and won't last long in the box!

Oh, no! Jan, I screwed up, but my screw up may help you. I took the thumb drive agate index to the office and didn't think about it again when repacking the box. Here's a thought, if it is okay with Helen--why don't I send it to you at your home, and, if Geoff is fine with downloading it from the CD-Rom (which is safely on the way to you via box), you can mail it to the person after Geoff and it will rejoin its friends in the box. I'm sorry for the mix-up. Hopefully, below will appear the rest of the photos: The box as it arrived: [ ][/img] Inside the box: [ ][ The contents of the box. I was afraid with my schedule this week that if I unwrapped everything poor Jan would get the box in late spring. This does not include the slabs in cardboard and individual boxes--the photo including the little boxes and slabs in cardboard is down below--last photo: [ ][/img] What I kept (Helen's arrowhead, Pat's brass earrings, a slab of Chinese writing stone, a slab of snowflake obsidian and one of leopardskin jasper, and slabettes of cave creek jasper (?), Blue G, unknown agate, a thunder egg, and finally, a plastic stand: [ ][/img] Some other things I put in (polished opalized petrified wood, "wierd rock," and a swirly chalcedony portion of a thunder egg(?). (I like odd things--I hope somebody else does as well.) [ ][/img] And (out of order) the rest of the stuff that was in the box besides the stuff spread out on the table: [ ][/img] The box only suffered one casualty--one of the plastic stands. There were a few chips in the bottom, but all were very small. Jan, enjoy!

Very nice items you placed in the box, Susan!! ;D Looking forward to receiving the box!! :cheesy: Susan, I'll be at mom's until the 18th if Helen okays that you send it there. Thank you, Ms. Pat! Thought I would take the Nook tablet and a wireless router with me and see if I can access the internet so I can pester y'all. If that doesn't work, will send tracking info and pics to Helen via cellphone.
