Alexandrium is a manmade aluminum silicate that like Alexandrite, shows color change but from blue to lavendar. Used for cabs and faceted stones....Mel

Susan, *L* Very cool contest! I've always thought bowling balls were made of some fancy looking material. My next guess was going to be Cat'seye, that stuff made from fiber optic cable but i couldn't figure why that would make you giggle less maybe you was smokin sumptin. Got a friend who does and he giggles at everything.....Mel

Hi Mel, Thanks for the info about Alexandrium. I wish I was smokin' something all weekend!!! I just love it when people take common words and add -ite on the end to make it describe a rock. Even Leaverite makes me giggle.
