Well, the neighbors mama cat wasn't buying it earlier this week when he tried to play with one of her kittens.

Adorable! How many, five? If kittens would stay just like that, I'd probably have half a dozen or so, lol.
Good on your girlfriend for rescuing them. I hope you are able to rehome them when the time comes. Until then, enjoy!

We're going to make sure they get good homes. The place they came out of was disgusting, needles and tampons and junk everywhere. They came stinking of urine and covered in fleas. It's amazing how each has a unique personality. |

Just saw this thread. I’ve always had cats about BUT Never one like IgMo  Let me introduce you to this tortoise shell cat. She was the runt of a litter & mama cat wasn’t caring for her. So we took her at about 4 weeks old and bottle fed her. She grew up to be the best cat ever. I had her for 18 years. IgggyMo & I were all over the country together. Lots of stories. She never grew very large and never purred! That was strange thing about her. Not purring. I was going to write a kids book entitled. “The Cat That Wouldn’t Purr”. Anyway she was smart and followed me everywhere. Even in strange environment when I moved all over the country She hated taking pictures. Hard to get her to pose face on for a picture. I have some. I’ll have to find. Unfortunately after 18 years she gave up the ghost. She’s a rock’n cat in peace. O the picture about 15 years old. I’ve only gotten better looking Mostly |

A theory is that cats learn purring and kneading
when nursing from MaMa cat.
We got IgggyMo early on because Mama cat wasn’t nursing her
So perhaps she never learned that behavior?
It’s a theory
My book was going to be a children picture book
A cat that wouldn’t purr
A dog that wouldn’t wag it tale
A fish that didn’t blow bubbles
Stuff like that
With a moral
I think its bestseller
Someone needs to write it

But I have to dispel the "purring is learned behavior" theory. One of the cats that owned us was abandoned at birth by her momma.
This is Wendy. We got her when she was only a couple hours old. 
Never once did she suckle at her momma's teat. She was lovingly bottle-fed with KMR (kitten milk replacement) from the pet store over the next month or so.
Her motor worked just fine, and I sure didn't teach her, lol! She was going on 22 years old when kidney failure took her away from us.
Iggymo was a beautiful cat. When you take the time to care for the runts, you are usually paid back tenfold with a loving and loyal animal.

Hi Jan, I don't know what she was, since she was found. Had taken Shadow (shepherd/lab mix) 
to the vets for an ear infection, the mama cat had given birth to two kittens at the back of the veterinary property. A pitbull was on the opposite side of the fence, mom split. The two girls in the office told me one of the kittens had already expired, and that if I didn't take the last one home, it would die as well. So she was kinda foisted on me, lol. No regrets, though.
Who would have guessed that the little mostly black, nappy-haired kitten would turn into such a beautiful long-haired cat? I had many people tell me she looked like a Maine Coon, but there's no way of telling for sure. |

Iggy was very contented happy cat I recall her kneading on my chest But probably not as much as other cats We were moving to Florida Had a moving van and follow up car I wanted to visit Dealy plaza So we parked the moving van, a few miles outside of Dallas and drove on to Dealy plaza Coming back one of the kids opened the van door. IgMo escaped! I called & called. Walked up towards her but she kept running farther into the field. It was getting dark! Way dark! I had to get going. I mean…I out there with a 24’ moving van and a car full of kids in the middle of huge Texas field. I was heart broken. The cat ran off. So reluctantly we start the engine. Immediately IggyMo comes bounding up to the van and jumps into the door! Where do you think your going with out me?! Little booger was playing & hide & seek. She was famous for that. Mostly

Either a physical (broken motor?) or mental issue? Depressed? Hard to say, I've never had a cat that didn't purr. Was she like a "normal" (whatever that means, lol!) in other aspects? I mean, I'm sure she showed affection and contentment in other ways, right? To this day, cats are a mystery to me. Perhaps that's why the Egyptians revered them. .jpg)
I know just how you felt when IgMo ran off, pets can be just as important to you as your own children (sometimes more so!). What to do when cat disappears into the dark? You can't just leave her. So glad that she didn't want to be left behind

beautiful Wendy! Reminds me of my mom's old coon cat... looked a lot like that. Sam would come running when he heard the vacuum and fling himself down in front of it belly up, wanting me to use it on him. I could take suck up his whole tail in that hose and he would love it...
really not your average cat. Old kitties go away and leave a hole in your heart. but it is nice to remember the fun.

but they are real perceptive
in subtle sort of way

Iggy was indoor cat.... mostly
for the last seven years she lived in the room with me
with a cat box
I'd empty that cat box in the field at the end of street
It was huge mound of litter
that lasted for years
matter fact traces
of Iggypoops is still there
actually a Cat dozer spreaded it out

Wendy has been gone for maybe five years now. Both of us still see her out of the corner of eye in the kitchen every now and then. Of course when we turn to look, there is nothing there. And my husband swears that she still jumps up on his bed at night (that's where she slept), and then tiptoes across the bed. Yeah, I know...
Not only do they leave a hole in your heart, but cat hair everywhere, too. I do not intend on getting another cat anytime soon.
My sister just texted me last night. She just got a new kitty after losing Jesse (first pic at start of this thread) a few months back. It's about four weeks old, was rescued and has been being bottle fed by a neighbor. No name yet, she doesn't even know if it's male or female. I'll post a pic in a sec.
Edit to add 
Not the best pic, but imagine I'll be getting more pics of my new niece/nephew soon enough, lol. |
