Update on the new gatito sobrina (yes, it's a girl!). She just had her first vet check on Friday, turns out she is much younger than the person she came from thought she was. The vet put her age at about two weeks, estimated DOB is August 15, same day as my sister! She was only about a week old when found abandoned in an alley.
Here's a new photo
She has been christened Pyper Mau, or Py for short. (Pie? Pi? Don't ask me.) Anyway, met her for the first time today, she is adorable.
She is healthy and doing well. Will be getting the KMR bottle fed to her for the next few weeks yet.

She's precious, rockpickerforever, and she looks as if she's smiling. Love her ears and her name. Good news to hear that the animal witch doc gave her a clean bill of health, especially after hearing that she was probably a week old when your sis rescued her.

heres are my 3 2 mainecoon brothers that were born under a rock in my backyard...litarally, under a rock. and a little girl ragdoll. This is Roo, he was born partially deaf, well my wife thinks so, I think hes just stubborn because he does hear certain sounds. he's a little stand-offish but also affectionate. he also has a loud roar, when he's hungry, which is just about every 10 minutes. he will clean his bowl and expect it be full AT ALL TIMES!...very demanding, he is. haha this one is Rocky, my best feline friend he does not resemble his brother at all, completely different personalities. extremely affectionate and attention hungry, all 17 lbs of him. One of the most laid back cats I ever had. This little girl is Rajsha, she acts like a prissy little girl who demands attention at all times. prances around the house and is a rescue from a cat "breeder" aka a cat hoarder. she lived in complete filth when she was born and sadly very neglected. She is a purebred Ragdoll. She has "dumbeyes" haha but like her step brothers she is also very affectionate and loves her yogurt. She likes to sleep and watch the traffic in the house wherever she can fit. We also have a feral girl cat that stays outside and controls the mouse population. her name is Pepper and we believe she is the boys sister. At first she wouldnt come near my wife nor I, but after some persistence of my wife we coaxed her closer and closer. Now she greets me at the front door every morning begging for me to fill her food dish and a back scratch. She also likes to sleep on my Jeeps soft-top and leave paw prints all over. She usually heads under our house in the middle of the night for safety and to stay dry during rainstorms. She likes to follow us when we walk to our mailbox or when Im just taking a short walk down the street. The boys like to oogle at her from our storm door. I used to have pictures of her but they were ereased from my phone. I'll get another picture of her soon. the three stooges at the storm door hoping to catch a glimpse of Pepper and try to swat flying bugs on the other side of the glass. Occasionally we hear giant thuds and scratching at the door when they see something they want. when they run around our house it sound like a herd of elephants. when they were kittens they would run around the house and climb up a decorative rug we have hung purposely hanging on the wall for them. Fun story, when Rocky and Roo we only a few weeks old our pitbull was their protector, she even cleaned them and would nudge them away from the edge of the couch when they started learning to walk and explore. We were blessed with great pets, all 7 of our furry family members. Now our chihuahua thinks he is our pitbulls boyfriend and tries beat her up. Brownie (pitbull) takes his crap and lets the chihuahua bite her neck and hump her legs... well anything he can reach, when brownie lays down, he totally tries to take advantage of her and the cats like to bop him on his head when he tries to be a tough guy without using their claws.

That cat reminds me of my Coon cat, Bartholomew. He was still born and I gave him CPR, or something like it. I was almost ready to toss in the towel, and he started breathing and moving. His mother rejected him so we had to get synthetic mother's milk. In the early '70's that was no small trick. A few years later, we moved back to CT, and he got in a fight. He used to like to eat bees and leap in the air. This time, something bit him on the head. He got an abcess that ultimately killed him. He died in my lap. A wonderful cat. Traveled many states, in compromised boxes. He never stopped being my cat. He would bonk me hard. That was when he would run at me and hit his head on my head. Like a mountain goat. To this day, I wish I had the prescence of mind to fix his wound. My ex had an affair and I was a mess. We were in bankruptcy over it. My son was first, Bartholomew was ultimately second. I should have done better. A small hole that the infection spread inside. I could massage the crud from the wound, but I had no antibiotics. 40yrs later, I still miss him desperatly. I would sleep and he would purr in my ear and fall asleep. A great cat with honour. I miss him. Coon cats are great cats. True family members. His fur used to get tangled under his armpits and he could not walk. I had to trim the fur out of each armpit. He never complained even though sometimes I had to get close and got his skin. Rocky looks just like Bartholomew. He was as big also. All hair. I miss him.

Beau ( he of the surly temper and short legs) often sleeps with his paw over his eyes. It is so stinking cute I have tried to get a picture of it. Of course photographing a black cat is usually difficult because of the lack of contrast. I took a couple unsuccessful photos before this one. Here is the evil eye... "you disturbed my peace to take flash photos?" If looks could kill I'd be dead.

Rocky looks just like Bartholomew. He was as big also. All hair. I miss him. Cats may be viewed as a sissy mans pet, but that's not how I have ever viewed having cats. They certainly do help when your feeling down in the dumps(well not all cats but we were blessed with well behaved lovable kittys). my wife bottle fed goats milk to Rocky and Roo for the first months, it took alot of our time and energy to make sure they grew up healthy. I'll never forget the time Rocky got outside to chase Pepper and once he realized he was outside he he quickly found out he didn't belong there and ran back up on our deck on two feet and almost knocked himself out on the glass storm door to get back inside. It is a terrifying feeling when the cats get sick. Roo had jumped off a dresser and sprained his front leg. He had to stay in our bed for two weeks so we could keep an eye on him and make sure he was eating and drinking. He was never the type to just cuddle with us, but after his injury he comes up on the bed and lays on my lap and has been a lot more affectionate ever since. We have eastern diamondback rattlesnakes lurking everywhere so our cats stay inside and a lot of people around here let their dogs run around without restriction. I just worry about Pepper coming in contact with one someday. I wish we could housebreak her but she seems pretty content being outside. I'm sorry to hear about your little guy, I can only imagine how devestating that is. Cats have always played a role in my life one way or another.

My sister had to have her little kitty, Pyper, put to sleep last Saturday. In the short time she had her, my sister took her to the vets three times for some health problems, the last time her kidneys were failing. The vet thinks she may have had some sort of congenital problem. May be why the mom cat abandoned her.
My dad and sister were bummed, so dad told her to see if she could get another kitten at the animal shelter. This is who came home with her
This is Josey, photo taken 3 days ago. She is about 4 1/2 months old. This cat has long legs, a long tail, and can jump very high. She is very high energy, like the Energizer bunny, lol. She likes to play with a feather on the end of a stick, she can get spinning like a top chasing after it. My sister says she will play like that until I ran out of energy!
RIP, little Pyper Mau.

Here's my daughters cat (which she forgot to take with her when she moved out, lol). This cat is VERRRRRY lazy, she eats, sleeps at the foot of my bed, and only gets up to chase my pug off the bed, lol. And here's the traumatized pug (they are both the same size and weight) she picks on, lol
