DO NOT BUY FROM THIS MEMBER. (purplpixie) She kept promising to send my box. She finally sent it 3 hours after I filed a paypal dispute (1 month after I had paid). She tried very hard to get me to close the dispute after she sent me a picture of the tracking number. I know from experience you cannot reopen a dispute once you have closed it so I told her I would close it after I check out the Bruneau. I paid for 40 lbs of Bruneau jasper with orbs and got 33 lbs of junk rock. I have escalated my paypal dispute to try to get a refund.

I believe Tommy may have a problem too. I was going to keep quiet because the seller made an attempt to make it right and sent me a replacement box but now I see they are continuing to sell this garbage they call bruneau so I'm going to speak up. I recommended to them that they stop selling this stuff as bruneau and they did not do so, therefore I have to conclude their intentions are fraudulent and it's affecting people I consider friends. After I complained bitterly about the box of "bruneau" and a bunch of limb cast tumbling scraps (I don't tumble) the seller said they would make it right and then disappeared until I began to threaten to "out" them on the board. The replacement box they eventually sent was filled with junk I threw directly into the garden. Not a single rock I would waste blade-life on because gray and brown crap jasper and agates don't make cabochons that people actually want to buy or wear. In the interest in complete disclosure I did receive ONE brown-moss agate limb cast and made a couple of beautiful cabs - one of which sold quickly and made part of my money back which I'm happy about. Aside from that it was a HIGHLY disappointing experience mostly because of the lapses in communication - this aspect bothered me more than the beschissen rocks. I said this early in the original purplpixie thread but it reminds me of dealing with a drug addict (and yes I have personal experience with this) - you have their full attention until you give them money and then they disappear for a while only to reappear full of excuses and lies. Again, I wasn't going to post but I see they have continued to send out this garbage to my friends. Bruneau? Limb cast tumbling scraps.

thats a real bummer gives the rest of us trying to share good deals here with folks a bad name ! this is why there needs to be a waiting period for members to get to know one another before they start selling !

thats a real bummer gives the rest of us trying to share good deals here with folks a bad name ! Roy - quite the contrary! This doesn't give anyone a bad name other than the jackasses who act like jackasses. This experience actually left me kicking myself for not dealing with you or Tony or someone else on the board who has EARNED our trust over time. I went into this with my eyes wide open knowing the shaky (flaky?) start OSRS aka PurplPixie aka holly541 got off to - as an experiment to see if he/she was someone I could trust enough to do business with. Experiment failed unfortunately - it wasn't the kind of money that Tony is dealing with but it is still hard earned money and I took a risk with it. Speaking only for myself I feel that it is truly our individual responsibility to make careful buying decisions - whether a seller has 1 post or 100 is of little consequence.

Yup, I was gonna say low grade White Fir Springs T-egg jasper too. It can sometimes have orbs but it sure ain't Bruneau Jasper. I hate it when folks misidentify material and oddly it always seems it's misidentified as something more rare and expensive than what they actually have. Hope you didn't pay a lot for it...Mel

Tommy, Sorry to see of your bad experience. One thing you might give thought to, and hopefully recover some more of your investment: polish up the ends of a few of the limb casts that are identifiable as wood replacement [look like a limb piece]. People here like them, generally with a bit of explanation as to origin.

Tommy,
That Bruneau looks an awful lot like some of the T-eggs I pulled near the Prineville, Oregon area. Its only a short drive from where they live if its the Redmond, Oregon folks.

Yep, that's white fir springs, just east of Prineville in the National Forest.

Agreed, White Fir Springs and not conceivably Bruneau. Those t-eggs actually can have nice orbs if you cut enough of them, but assuming this is the way they came, it looks like they "managed" to "accidently" window them and "somehow" any with potential orbs crawled out of the box.

My pieces were not windowed. There was no trace of whitish material showing from under the surface staining. I don't fault anyone for a mis-identification - I can see why they might have thought it was bruneau. The color looks very close until you window or cut it obviously. What I take exception to and the reason I came public is that once a mistake like this has come to light the seller has the responsibility to IMMEDIATELY make it right which in Tony's case is a refund. In my case I opted for a replacement box of different material - I asked for plume agate but got crap instead.

Pretty darn hard to confuse "crap rock" with plume agate. Those folks obviously seem to have a problem with sending what they advertize.....Mel

One thing that I do on forums if I am going to buy something from members with a lot or a little post count is feel the person out and get to know them.
Here is some instances which can help identify a scammer easily in my experience. These are questions I ask before even talking about about the Items.
red text = possible scammer
Green text = possibly a good deal
If you ask why they are selling:
comes up with different stories every time or just "needs" the money.
Has too much of it, needs to clear out space, financially burdened, for profit, to get other material
If you ask for pictures of exactly what you will be getting:
can't provide clear pictures or any pictures at all
provides clear pictures, a lot of pictures
Other things to consider are: are they willing to share it here rockhounding stories with you or are they just in it for the business (buying to resell). Also see if they are willing to swap material if you don't like something.
I have had plenty of people that were in the red from that may have had something nice but that couldn't provide clear pictures or could not keep the same story. These were people I did not buy from (they were not on here).
I also had a few people that I bout from that I will buy from again If they decide to sell more rock, one person in particular on here that I will buy from again is Donnie.
If you see this Donnie I thank you again and look forward to seeing your next box if your still cleaning.
