Florida and Georgia ran into all kinds of opposition building reservoirs by the environ people. Happens everywhere. Yes it covers up pristine creeks and rivers, but the alternative of not having stored water is not so good. Rest assured California's enviro people have much more conviction/influence than a timber cutting state like Georgia. Lake Rodman in Florida has been under attack since 1970 when they dammed the Oklawaha River. Travel 12 miles of pristine untouched Oklawaha River and 12 miles of the dammed section-then compare. You will see more birds X100 and variety of birds on the lake. Fishing, probably better by X1000. Gators, way off the chart. Add amphibians, mammals, etc. One of the most diverse wetlands. Certainly some migratory fish suffered. Collateral damage, sorry. One of the main reasons they want to tear the dam out is due to two manatees over a 45 year period got caught and killed in the loch gates. And restore the old river channel. Look into Rodman, the Panama canal of Florida. The cross Florida Barge Canal was a huge and costly failure by our govt. The enviros beat it down since it would shunt the Atlantic to the Gulf of Mexico. Dang, sharks and salt water fishing right across central Florida. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross_Florida_Barge_Canal

How can the enviro people not see that if there is no water there is no enviro. If there is no water just about everything dies so give a little here for a huge benefit there. The math is simple, -2 here can add up to + tens, hundreds or thousands of benefits there or nearby. Saving a few fish that are going to end up dieing later anyway at a cost of no water for the masses in the future is just plain stupid.
Shark fishing in Central Florida could be a real money maker and epic battles between shark and gator probably priceless. But then someone would compare it to dog fighting and make Florida put all the gators on a leash. Jim

Jim Back in the early 70's the environmentalists were disturbed more about disturbing natural river ways and species mixing. Ha, like gators and sharks. The modern day concern is salt water mixing. Since salt water is the #1 pollutant of Florida's fresh water. It is probably a good thing that they did not build the canal and introduce salt water into/across the mainland of Florida. It would have crossed the aquifer recharge areas of the giant Florida Aquifer, that would have been a bad thing. On the subject of gators in salt water. It is a sign of a neurotic/aggressive gator. Usually a gator on the beach is a psycho gator. Wildlife services usually put a cap in those suckers. Not sure why the salt water has such an impact on them. It is rare.

I'm surprised that I haven't heard to much chatter about the dangers of fireworks & the drought conditions. I'm sure tomorrow we will hear of some disastrous fire that occurring because some bimbo lit an M-80 off in a dry field.

I mentioned i would post some pics of the changes out here in the last 3 years. Before and now of the drought effects its having this far north and west. Biggest thing I dont get is why the Glaciers are holding more snow pack and its so friggen dry down below? Lake Mead number 2. Anywhere below the snow line are dry creeks and lakes levels dropping drastically. 2.5 or 3 years ago Now Before Now This is the distance to the new beach front property. Looking back to the old shore line is where those first 2 pics were taken. I can not ever remember seeing it in this state. Same month as last year when the pic was taken. All the others I saw had the same effect snow pack. This glacier is just one of a few that feeds this lake. I dont see any Ice shrinking. Go ahead and copy them if you like and place side to side. It would be good to hear what you see. 2014 2015

Rubber platoons. mohs™ Global warming caused the Zombie Outbreak Response Team symbol to fall of my car license plate this morning. Found it on the car pad before Rick left for work this morning.

We had a couple of overcast days in Atlanta due to smoke from the Canadian fires spiritstone. Not low level smoke, but way high in altitude.

About 16 years ago I had to build a about 48 timber boxes to put liner in. So they would hold water for my aquatic plants. It was a 3 month project. Lots of ground leveling with hand tools after the loader leveled the field, then hammering a million spikes. Had to start June when biz slowed. June July August was constantly 95-105F w/ high humidity, full sun. That was the hottest spiritstone. Hottest/humidest summer. Body acclimates. Like to sleep with room at 80-82F. Hardly crack a sweat till it is pretty hot. Get cold in 77F room. Winter is different story. Makes cohabitation difficult, normal people like the AC much colder. Kind of a curse actually.

Supposed to get rain the next few days "supposed to" is the key word lol. Just heading out the door to go get some of that calligraphy stone. If the water does start to rise in the river, I might not get another opportunity until it drops again to pick it up.
