News reports saying that the firers here will burn until the snow puts them out this fall. I wonder if all the GW alarmists will flock into the west to help with the fires? With all the Co2 being released from the smoke. One would think they would be here. Noooooooooooooooot..........protesting is much easier and safer.
102F on my deck yesterday. You southern folks can have the heat. Spent the day in my basement. To dam hot for this cowboy.

A new out of control one started up last night south of jasper, maybe a 100km or less from where I need to go, should be heavy with smoke. Better get moving.

I'm surprised it took this long for Jasper to burn. Was dry as a tinder box last week when I traveled through there.

Just four things to remember- Don't inhale! (The fire smoke, that is ) Have a safe journey, and hope you find all that you are looking for. And it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway - take lots of pictures! And the MOST important thing, have fun!

Long hot day, even with a glacier fed river to wet yourself down in. Spent a lot of time just in the river to keep cool. Picked a couple bucket loads, some of it is real nice and some so-so. One even has a little bit of orange gem flash in it. Not much but I didnt think it was possible? High east winds kept the smoke down most of the day blowing towards BC, looked overcast out but it was smoke. By early afternoon you would of thought you were standing next to a campfire with the smell of the smoke in the air. Made me a little uneasy when it smelt that strong. Packed it up and and headed home east. No sooner then 8 or 10 miles out, there they were. RCMP and fire trucks were gathering up and a road block was just about to be set up on the other side of the range i was in. Caught some footage of one of the many trucks and cop cars whipping past me heading back, but it was hard to get the camera to turn on in time when they just pop over a hill or around a bend in the hiway. Have some pics and a short vid. Show you when I get a chance to upload it all. Thanks for the safe trip wishes. Sounds like it worked.

That cat is not relaxing.
It is on guard duty to keep critters out of your garden!
That's it's story anyway.

I was in China and wanted to show you the air quality. lol Crap gives me a headache sucking it in all day long. It's really a cloudless day above the smoke. The drive in to the Rockies on friday. Same air quality. It could of been a nice post card pic if it wasnt for the smoke. Little house on the prairie.

Looks like the little house on the prairie is safe.
Things do not look good but I was surprised by how many they have under control.
I hope everyone stays safe and know that it is better to loose your stuff than to loose your stuff and your life. Jim

Is a mini ICE AGE on the way? Scientists warn the sun will 'go to sleep' in 2030 and could cause temperatures to plummetwww.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3156594/Is-mini-ICE-AGE-way-Scientists-warn-sun-sleep-2020-cause-temperatures-plummet.htmlThe Earth could be headed for a 'mini ice age' researchers have warned.
A new study claims to have cracked predicting solar cycles - and says that between 2020 and 2030 solar cycles will cancel each other out.
This, they say, will lead to a phenomenon known as the 'Maunder minimum' - which has previously been known as a mini ice age when it hit between 1646 and 1715, even causing London's River Thames to freeze over. Enjoy the heat while you can! No doubt this will be a call for new regulations against the Sun going through it's cycles. Even less doubt that they will find someone or something to blame it on. We will probably also need a new Whitehouse Solar Czar.

Now downgraded plus a few others to being held , and the one i was near yesterday. good to hear, it is pristine wilderness.
