I predict that bushmanbilly will defend his livelihood to the death OR until he gets a job working for the solar power industry. I don't blame you Billy because you are trying to raise kids which is tough even when the work is good but if you start planning for a change now it will make it easier than waiting for the crash to drag you down if it hasn't happened already. Change sucks but it is doable especially if it is done while an industry you are switching to is fairly young and growing rapidly. Fighting to survive in a dying industry gets tougher every year. Fossil fuel will be around for a long time to come but new energy is growing rapidly everywhere. Lots of bucks to be made by people getting in now instead of later. JMHO Jim

Texas needs more rain!

Well Oregon is back on track with our weather patterns,at least in the valley...Rains and cool days so far-the heat will be coming in for the crops and season, hopefully it backs off again in the fall and the rains kick in again for the winter months...

We have had some good growing weather with long drizzle spells and some sun shiny days. I have a feeling that the farmers around here are happy so far but the variables can destroy that feeling very fast. Jim

JMHO Jim Did you read the whole link or just the copy paste I posted from the link? I'm not defending my job Jim. I'm defending the truth. Jim, try to go with out using fossil fuels for a week. Give up everything made with carbon fuel. See how long you can go without it. I predict you would not make sundown without it. The thing that worries me the most about the greens is that they are so gullible that they take there cult leaders words as truth. Do you really think that plant food will doom the earth? 70 million years ago the co2 levels were twice what they are now. Did it kill the dino? No it did not. It took a rock from the sky to do them in. Now compare the size of all living things then to now. Why was everything so much larger then compared to now? Simple answer, more CO2. Plants grew bigger because of it. Making more food for the plant eaters and inturn making more food for the meat eaters. Ask any greenhouse owner why they pump extra CO2 into their operations. They will tell you it increases their yields. Making more food for the masses. The sky is falling Jim. When you going off the grid? But I guess if you did we would never know it. Because you would also have to give up you computer due to its oil content. If we ended the use of oil products today. The world would come to a stand still with riots and hunger across the planet. The climate has been and will always be changing. That is above mans control. Pull your head out of your ass the sand and face the facts. Its a scam to tax the shit out of everyone. And the climate fools are fallin g for it. Hook, line and sinker.

It's fairly normal here except the rains are making insanely dense under growth

As far as carbon fuel? I ride a bicycle and use biodiesel hybrid public transit... I do not own a car. I live three miles from where the last grid transformer is installed. Our power is from local hydro electric with fishery sustainable salmon ladders and all drinking water sources are full. Perfect for growing our own veggies, grass fed beef and free range chicken and pork with a farmers market somewhere in the county every day of the week year round...
How 'bout you mr bushman?
Oh yeah I also own a Winchester 94 30-30 (for venison) and an Abu Garcia reel on a Shakespeare Uglystik (for salmon, trout, surf perch and various other local sea creatures)!
By the way, our local beaches are not vanishing from erosion! And we grow the best pot... Yesterday was my birthday. I am 62 and still a mad bassist/hippy!!! Retired Chef and Vietnam Vet!
Humboldt County, California. The Emerald Triangle...
Google it...
...just sayin'
peace out...

Another FYI...
Concerning balance, yes oil got us here... So did the covered wagon and gold. Gold used to be worth $20 an ounce. There were no five dollar bills. They were $5 gold coins and hemp oil was burned in lamps and was less than a dollar a gallon. The air was clean as well.
When I go all the way off the grid I will have photovoltaic, hydro generators and wind generators.
This iPad I am using right now can use satellite connections in the wilderness. I also reload my own ammo....
Can you survive... Billy?

Everything you have mentioned has been made with carbon based fuels. Don't you use stone tools? How long did it take you to build a cabin with a stone axe? You must be good at tanning hides for clothes. I beg to differ with your "we grow the best pot" try some Canadian bud and you will change your mind. BC Bud........goggle it. Just sayin.........Peace out with respect to your life style and thank you for your service.

Life without oil. I goggled it for you. www.cepa.com/6-ways-your-life-would-be-different-without-oil-and-gas1. Your morning routine would change What do you do first in the morning? Brush your teeth? Go for a run? The materials in toothbrushes and running shoes are made from petrochemicals produced when petroleum is refined. What about your mid-morning snack? You might not be able to eat your favourite B.C. gala apples because the agricultural industry relies on trains and trucks to get “our fruits and vegetables from the farmers’ fields to our kitchen tables,” said Albertan Michael Ervin. (Get more of Michael’s story) 2. You would have to rethink your wardrobe If you love your wrinkle-free shirt, you can probably thank oil delivered by pipelines. Materials used to make nylon, elastic, rayon, polyester and even “permanent press” items come from petroleum. If you wear glasses, the lenses and frames were probably made using a derivative of crude oil. Did you know? There are over 6,000 products that are made from petroleum. 3. Your health may be affected Think of your last trip to the doctor’s office or hospital. Did your doctor or nurse use latex gloves or disposable syringes? These are petroleum products. Even heart valves and artificial limbs couldn’t be produced without oil and gas. How would it affect our health if we didn’t have these life saving health products? 4. You would have to cancel your trip to Paris About 10 per cent of every barrel of oil is used for jet fuel to power airplanes and helicopters. Petroleum is needed to power airplanes, but it is also helping to make air travel more efficient. “Airplanes use less fuel today because they are lighter, and they’re lighter because they use polymers made from hydrocarbons,” said Andre Brunell from Montreal. (Read Andre’s story) How would your life be different if you couldn’t travel by plane? 5. You wouldn’t be reading this blog post That’s right – the plastics used to make electronics such as computers and phones are made with petrochemicals. Without oil and gas, you may have to resort to using a carrier pigeon.6. You would have a different understanding of the universe According to NASA, “a space shuttle’s large external tank is loaded with more than 500,000 gallons of super-cold liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen, which are mixed and burned together to form the fuel for the orbiter’s three main rocket engines.” This hydrogen is derived from petroleum. How would your idea of the solar system be different without knowledge discovered thanks to space exploration?

But to use it as a replacement for oil would be useless. To make 9 million barrels a day of hemp oil to replace oil. There would be no land left to grow food. Greens........they never look at the big picture. Yes I could and can survive without oil. But why? Looks like you can't. Your generators,i-pad and ammo are mined and made with fossil fuels. Enjoy your life style. Just don't force it on people who want a different life style.

The Heartland article goes on to say: For the author, this completely boring, run-of-the-mill flight delay became a flight of fancy, inspiring her new work. This flight delay, she reasoned, was evidence of climate change. Who cares, she added, if we know that the solar cycles impact the planet, even more than CO2 emissions ever could. Science is not the point, but it makes for a great alibi. “The really inconvenient truth is that it’s not about carbon—it’s about capitalism. The convenient truth is that we can seize this existential crisis to transform our failed economic system and build something radically better,” she writes. greenjihad.net/2015/08/19/naomi-klein-admits-global-warming-is-not-about-science-but-destroying-capitalism/
