Thanks for that. hahaha So crazy I had to watch a second one but the guy never did catch a tarpon even though he was seeing 50 to 100 of them around the boat chasing the little fish. Jim Tarpon is a handful once hooked. Another in the tarpon family but much smaller is the ladyfish. 2-4 pounds, they can break 15 pound line, spend more time out of the water than in the water. Has to be the best fighter pound for pound. WOW, a four pounder breaking a fifteen pound test line would be double the fun if I had twenty pound test line. I don't mind tossing them back but I hate loosing them. Although landing one on a five test line would be a great accomplishment. Would love giving it a shot either way. Hang on a minute, I am going to go practice adjusting the drag on my reel. We used to go on the Musselshell River East of Roundup Montana and try to catch eight to fifteen pound catfish on four test line. My record was a nine pounder and it probably took me twenty to thirty minutes to land it and you can toss a rock across the river underhanded. Goooooood eatin. Jim

Getting back to drought, not too long ago you could step across the Musselshell River but they have had some flood years recently that took the meander out of the river and caused most of the creeks in that area to start flowing again. They have not had running water in them for 60 or more years. Wiped out part of the town too. All of the irrigation dams washed out too so some of the native fish are coming up stream again. Jim

The ladyfish uses momentum. She will run toward you and then run full speed away and pop the line when the slack straightens out. If you want to brave her with 4 pound line you may have luck with a long mushy pole like a fly rod. They jump out of the water and shake the hook out of their mouth too. Used to win money betting the guys they could not land 1 out of 3 hooked. Little 2 pounders at that. They have a way of snapping rod tips too. Often die due to the violent fight.
The best ladyfish catchers

If Georgia is dry, Louisiana/Texas usually getting flooded. Visa versa. Nina/Nino seems to control where rain goes. Starts way west in the Pacific. Go figure.

SOL eh, I believe you are glad to get away from that place jakesrocks. Hear complaints on the forum about Cali. Well you took one thing they wish they had now ! We have a reservoir in Georgia that has claims to it's water down stream in Alabama and Florida. I believe California has claims to the Colorado's water. After it flows thru a bunch of other states. I would guess that the states further upstream @ headwater are going to win if the quarreling goes ballistic. We are getting a nice shower today too.

That is quite a read. Even if they were not in a drought they would still not have enough water. And the plot thickens.
The salad we have today is made with a nice brown crinkly lettuce from southern California. Look at it this way, you do not need croutons. Jim

This is a most complicated arrangement. Incredible. Dominos come to mind. With lots of branches and forks.

www.inforum.com/news/3747159-weather-talk-forecasts-point-strong-el-nino-conditions" Many long-range forecasters think this coming El Nino will be a strong one by next winter. That would likely mean heavy rainfall for California and other places across the southwest. The rain could help ease the Southwestern drought but could also cause significant flooding. They'll probably bitch about getting too much rain next. Today's Helpful Hint: Don't build a house on the edge of a cliff or at the bottom of a hill prone to mudslides.

But Bob, (high pitched squawky voice) I want to walk out on my back porch and look down to see the waves crashing and the birds flying. I don't give a s... if the tax payers have to put out a little money to save me. I pay taxes too you know. (in a higher voice) Hey there BOY you need to hurry and get all my stuff out of here before this piece of crap falls off the cliff. And don't you dare scratch the walls in the new house on that other cliff. You can not fix stupid unless you lock the people in the house so they go off the cliff with the house. One I have heard myself: It has not flooded here in 78 years so I am ok. It only took one year from the time that comment was made. Jim
