Uh oh... But James, I already have a yard full of red clay. So that's what you use for packing material? captbob, Jean is paying outrageous electric bills for running old, inefficient, energy sucking A/C unit for the last month or two. I have a Scott-Murray tumbler, a gift from from mohs Lortone based the Model B on this. Ordered a new rubber liner from the Rock Shed. Hope to run it when it cools down a tad and the electric bill goes down. Had to do some refurbing: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/post/647401/thread

I had gone back and found that thread about the Scott-Murray tumbler, but I didn't see any threads with your tumbled rocks. hence my question. which you really didn't answer... Okay, Mr Busybody, the answer is, that's because there are no finished ones - yet. I have only run two courses of coarse grind in that tumbler, and they (hard agates) still need a half dozen more times, at least. When they (and all the other things I am going to have to add) get done shaping in coarse, then I have a new (still in the box) five year old vibe tumbler (bought at Q) to finish them. It is very hard for me to stick with anything for very long. I ADMIT IT! There, are you happy? Is your curiosity satisfied? (It killed the cat, ya know...) ETA - Any other questions I can answer for you?

did you pack the jar in red clay? About 1/3 wet clay, then rocks and vibrated them in. Then added more rocks. Then topped it of with wet red clay. Clay on inside of jar with rocks Ed.

Are there fins on the outside of the jar so I can drop it in the crick to tumble? Or are they already polished. Mailman just came, nothing from James today. No box dripping wet clay... and that still the original motor ? Yep, it runs like a champ!

if Jean removes the cap and lets it dry she'll have concrete conglomerate. So she can slab the bottles. No Problemo.

Georgia clay is platelet clay 1dave. When compressed or vibrated well at the correct moisture % it tuns into hard rubber consistency. By stacking the platelets. Making it about impermeable to water. I should have set the containers on the vibe deck and vibed it into such.

Should probably get here today. So... What am I supposed to do with these jars of clay and rock? Will it be self evident? Is it a puzzle, a conundrum? A test?
Is my task to get all the rocks out of the jars, away from the clutches of the wet red clay? Is this like one of those dog toys that hold treats, and it will take me hours to get them all loose? One at a time, so I can oooh and ahhh over each and everyone?
The suspense is killing me!
