Not here yet... Mail due anytime now. The suspense builds. control child, control No joy in Mudville tonight, the package did not come today. Suspect it may be a heavy, soggy, orange-stained box, sitting in a corner at the post office?? Or maybe it took the scenic route, via NY, to see the leaves changing color? Now I gotta wait until Monday at the earliest. Whadya send it by Pony Express James??

captbob, it came late yesterday (Monday), I did not even open it until a half hour ago. Right now, it is on my patio table.
JAAAAAMES!!! I am going to have red GA mud EVERYWHERE! Camera, keyboard, door handles, faucet handles, fingernails, gee whiz! But the one "rock" that I washed off so far makes it worth it. I have one jar already emptied out (the smallest one, which cracked open, as did the lid for it), the contents of that one jar still need a scrubbing to remove the mud.
Got other stuff to get done today (laundry, for one) so will try to get everything emptied out, sorted out, cleaned, photo'd, photo out of cameras (using second computer running Win 98), photos uploaded and posted as soon as I possibly can. So keep your shorts on, captbob.
Pulling out mud and rocks, trying to wash off hands to take pics. This slacker is working on it, lol!

captbob, patience is a virtue... Isn't there something you can be doing while you're waiting? (Quit drumming your fingers, dammit! I can't think!) To stave off those photo hunger pains of yours, perhaps I can upload what I got so far. Means I won't get more of it un-mudded until tomorrow.

One jar per day... kinda like not opening all your Christmas presents in one sitting! Bonus is we get to hear about the mess you have to clean up THREE TIMES!
It feeds the anticipation! And yes, you will get to hear about the clean up more than once. Maybe not three times, but at least twice, lol.
Without further ado, here's just the start.
How the box arrived. It was raining here when it was delivered, but could have soaked by the GA rain before it got here. Post office placed it into one of their plastic bins, just so it wouldn't lose anything.
Wet, jamesp wasn't kidding! Soggy cardboard not very strong. I credit my mailman for babying this, in order for me to receive it whole.
Delving deeper... At least the red mud stayed inside the box!
Note to James - Don't use that white sh!t for packing if it's going to get wet. Looses all padding properties when wet, if, indeed it had any to start with .
The one thing not packed in clay, a scraper. Uber cool!
The three jars. Two of the three kinda came open. Only the one on the left is intact.
The stuffed jars, mud and rocks (can't wait til I get the mud off these!)
Like a quart of packed ice cream, yum (not!)
Waiting to be washed
Just the mud from that one jar, goodies removed
Do not get this on your clothes! Ever heard of red dirt shirts from Hawaii? dirtshirt.com/ James could make his own!
This is the only one I've sorta washed off so far - Nice coral, a lovely shade of blue (not gray)
Back side of the above piece. Even mud coated, you can see the coralites
One jar down, two to go. Better get that lid back on, so I don't have a cylindrical brick, lol. Maybe I'll get it all done by tomorrow??
Thank you, James! I know I am going to love them. (Please excuse the cussing and grumbling you hear about that mud getting on everything...)
There ya go, captbob. If you could have waited a day, I could've posted all the pics. But, noooooo.
Gotta go, more tomorrow.

LOL. captbob stirring it up Nobel quality. Is it redder than your clay Jean ? greasier ? A thimble full can stain an acre. Gotta love the texture. Some very nice clay. Stays wet for 6 years. Hand selected from a spot in the timber road behind the house after a 2 mile stroll on the ATV. The ATV tires had a 2 inch pasty clay coating on them. Shoes same. Tires slung it all over, head to toe. It was wet the day I collected it. Don't worry, I paid my dues too Jean. Hosed off outside.(rules). Did double bag everything. Used a ton of tape and they still busted the box, dang.
