If ya win Tommy , you could save yourself some postage! Nice showing this month. Haha If I won I think my wife would kill me. This box has worn out its welcome in the garage a long time ago. It definitely needs a new home. If I entered I would ask Glenn to exclude my entry from voting. The winner has the right to decide if they want the prize to go to someone else or go for another month.. although few choose that option but you could be a first.

Coming in with another hand-polished cab! Many sheets of sandpaper sacrificed their lives for the cause. Slab Pre-form done to 80 grit thanks to Pat Sanded to 1000 grit Backlit Final polish Fractures sealed with Opticon (thanks to bobby1 's great tutorial!) Bonus video of the polish because by golly I earned it.
That is a winner. You sure have determination. GREAT JOB...............................MrP

My entry for the KCC is Lapis Lace from Turkey. I slabbed this several months ago and set it aside. I had planned to try a large cab from it "sometime". In keeping with glennz01 's theme, today was a good time to give it a shot. Rough Slab - The slab had some soft spots that I thought would probably fracture, but I wanted to catch as much of the blue as I could. Saw-cut - I trimmed it a little closer than I wanted to. Preform 1 - mostly trying to cleanup the edges Rough grind / shaping - This is coming off the textured 180# wheel Finished cab - approx. 4 3/8" L Side view Top side 1 Top, opposite side I am happy with it, overall, but I think I probably curved the top a bit too much. I may revisit it and straighten it out a little bit. Thanks glennz01 and Tommy for keeping the KCC alive It is fun to see everyones entries and creative process! Roger

That turned out nice. A perfect example of this theme! It seems like we are all doing this hence the incentive to finish I'm glad to keep it going as I like to challenge myself I think the hardest theme that Tommy and I discussed will come in January.

I think the hardest theme that Tommy and I discussed will come in January. Such as? colorblind rocks - black, grey, and white materials.

From a thunderegg slab this has been kicking around my preform box for over a year, I needed an excuse to spend some time with it...While not a true freeform the slab dictated the shape. It has an intricate maze of fortification lines, eyes and even a spot of moss. I small healed fracture humbles the pattern, but I am pleased with the cab. Cheers the preform

here is my entry, a holly blue agate with golden moss strands. I found this rough at n estate sale almost two years ago and have been hesitant to cut. I cut it parallel to the layers to get the 'eye'. was fun. the rough, sorry I didn't get a pic of the freeform the cab another view

All right, I'll throw my hat in too. I cut a piece I found in a bucket of stuff I got at an auction several years ago. I dug deep for this lol. Was interesting because I wasn't positive on what it was. Figured I'd grind away & see what shows up. Turns out it's a small piece of banded iron. The plan is to groove wrap, so it's got a wide girdle. Chunk I started with... Preform... Finished cab... Good luck everyone!

nice one roger! wonder were you got that ? i have bought most thats left there in turkey ~ Thanks Roy. I purchased a few slabs from Turkey and enjoyed working with it. When some rough became available, I picked up two 10ish pound chunks. It is mostly cream with a light blue, but some of it does have the nice, dark blue. It is neat material

Here is my November entry, I just finished it about 30 min ago. This is some Laguna lace agate. The little slab was part of a collection I drove down and picked up in El Paso 3 days ago. It was a 8 hour round trip and I was dying to cut this little slab all the way home. The fact that I had to rent a U Haul trailer to get everything home was surely to my advantage. The colors and shadow banding are pretty awesome in my opinion. The back is polished like glass to match the front. Thanks for bringing the contest back and thanks to everyone who entered, there are some awesome entries here. The slab. The preform. The Cab over black background. The Cab over white background. The Back.
