Picked up my rock box @ the post office yesterday. No experience w/ this material, should be a challenge. Many THANKS to Scott for his generosity and great competition concept. Some really cool colors and patterns in that Lavic.

metalsmithChas I did get donations from friends. It was quite easy and took all of 30 minutes to get friends to help out and get you into the contest!

@shotgunner I picked up my box from the post office last night. Can't wait to get started with it. When do we start? Anytime or when everyone gets theirs? I need to cut some up...should be fun in 120 degree weather.

Hi shotgunner. I was wondering when I could expect my contest rocks? Also did you mean ballot entries would start 1-1-17?

Unlike my past tumbles, these lavic jaspers gonna need a few months of tumbling. Gotta be aggressive with em'. Thanks.

My wife havasumargo received her box of Jasper for the contest and cant wait to get started. Thank you @shotgunner for putting this together. Below is a piece of Lavic we collected (not a contest rock) that has been tumbling in step 1 for about two weeks (shown wet).

@shotgunner - Sorry if this has already been answered but when we are done are we submitting pictures of one finished rock, five rocks or whole batch? Just trying to figure out how to proceed now that I have the rough.

I've just started to tumble mine. I had to break it apart with a hammer. Interesting stuff: some of it was as hard as agate, and some of it was chalky. I have a HF 33B machine that I'm using for it.
Thank you shotgunner, you rock.

Happy Independence Day!! Thank you again Scott for the rocks. They are beautiful. Started them on 6/27/16 with the rotary tumbler. These are Day One. Really nice assortment. Had fun choosing the competition stones. Lavic Wet - all I can say is I can't wait to see this after a few months!
