The guy behind the Michigan Rocks YouTube channel suggested the site, and when I googled, the forum page was the top result.

I found this site after posting in a group on Facebook. I was trying to get help with rock identification. I have been a rock and fossil hunter/enthusiast for years but hadn't ever joined any groups. I just thought my finds were "cool". It wasn't until recently that I took interest in identifying my finds and sharing them with others. I think that I am going to be happy with my decision to get educated and share with like minded people.

Found this place looking for a way to build a better tumbler for my ammo brass on a reloading forum. Built one and now look at the trouble I'm in! My ranch has lots of rocks and I'm in deep. There is no turning back now. I have been assimilated.... And the people here are so kind, knowlegable and helpful.

I just started my first batch of rock tumbling. So exciting! I just want to make sure Iām doing it right so I went online and found this forum/group. I thought what better place to learn from. Looking forward to learning and possibly sharing my techniques someday. I usually work with glass so rocks are new to me. Working with rocks that is. I have rocks everywhere in my home! Any first time tips throw them at me. š

My only tip is try anything you feel like trying. Do some quick research and go for it! There are a thousand different ways of doing stuff. The only hard & fast rule i've found with tumbling is that you always need a bigger tumbler

I first found the very good beginners guide at www.smarterhobby.com/rock-tumbling/ and the author included a link to this group. Thanks!
