almost made this post under jeannie login! jamesp i believe we now have the same type saw. I completely understand why you: A) use wood wedges and removed the springs on the bronze clamps. Very difficult to operate using springs and the threads get dragged on the steel threads. and B) use a ratchet to operate the vice clamp. what a nuisance as built! What is your plan for the cross feed thingy? Lastly, I would like to purchase a Hamchet or whatever its called! My welder isnt hot enough! Firstly, a bond has been made. You guys acquired a rock saw together. This is a huge move in the relationship. Rings ? So what. Rock saws ? Serious commitment lol. Now that y'all are bound in rock saw matrimony...and again congrats. A) I still use the springs on the clamp Scott. The wood block wedges the clamps tight but the spring was left intact. Just cut the block carefully to fit. B) Replace that knob yesterday with two nuts tightened together. Get a 3/8" socket drive w/extender. Must be about a 3/4" to 7/8" socket for that size nut. I have not addressed the cross feed. Betting the same locked nut configuration would work on it too. It is always better to have the lady work the wrench on the saw clamp whilst you manage from the rear. Like the tennis instructor does... You guys can try KY Yours-Mine for saw lubricant. Just be sure to leave the saw open when you turn it on haha. The ratchet/hamchet thingy comes in handy for hammering the soft crust off of coral so as to get a hard face on the rock to clamp it. If you need such I will weld.

jamespjeannie would love a Ratcher for her birthday in April. Actually, the saw is all mine. She was copilot though. Her son was the brawn that helped me get it into the dolly. And she knows my secrets. Haha!

Wow Scott congrats! Cant beat the price Brian. If I was paying new prices, I doubt I would go this route. Very thin sheet metal housing and legs, weird vice clamp that has awesome geometry but is difficult to work the way they set it up. Feed screw clamp VERY difficult to operate. There is an interesting polyethylene sheet hanging from the lid. It has a split so it sits both sides of the blade minimizing splash. I am undecided if I like this. Will followup with thoughts on this "feature" that may have even been added after the fact. Tim or John is this sheet normal? AzRockGeek johnjsgemsThe polyethylene sheet is factory. Not sure how much it really helps but so far I haven't had it present a problem so I guess it doesn't hurt. If you're planning on leaving the saw that close to your heat pump for your house (as pictured) you may want to drape a towel over the lid to help cut down on mist escaping so it doesn't get sucked into the heating and cooling system of your house. Set it on a thick piece of plywood and roll it on PVC pipes like I did with my 24" saw when I moved it by my self. You never cease to amaze me!!!

My intent is usually to amuse, but I'll take what I can get! Thank you my dear. Figured if it worked for the Egyptians building the pyramids and those Druids doing their Stonehenge thing it should work for me.
You should see the pool that I built for my dogs where that piece of plywood is out in front of the saw. Now THAT was amazing.
Shouldn't you be driving to Florida?

I grew up in Lafayette. I had five generations of family all over the Denver metro area. I was raised a Broncos fan, and raised my kids as fans, as well, out here in Raiders and Chargers country. That was a challenge!

Probably not a life threatening issue but sure could have involved a lot of troublesome property issues @shotgunner. Where's Hobo. I need to pet him.
