QuailRiverLarry, The plastic sheet hanging down keeps the oil in the back half of the saw and keeps the chips from falling into the muck. I'm getting lots of tinies for the tumbler and the oil will last a bit longer.

This saw would not be my first choice, but for the price, i would not and could not pass on it. I've made 150++ cuts since we lugged it home. The last couple days the blade drive pulley is slipping and resetting the set screw was a fail. I called Covington. 35 miles away I could have visited! I was given to a mechanic who builds and maintains these machines for the company. I sent him this pic He advises the key is missing. It has a set screw not a key. So, he says, I'll send you the parts. We have two sizes. I'll send one of each. I had another minor issue. The belt guard opens while saw is running. So he offers a new magnetic and tells me how to adjust the mechanism. Great service!! Woot!!

That sounds like great service! I'm glad they hooked you up. I had admitted i had a used saw, and did not buy it from them. Didn't matter to them. They want their saws cutting rocks!

Im really proud of that company. Sure the saw isnt the highest end saw on the market. They targeted a different crowd. And even then, they still are giving world class service.

They keep you happy and that sells equipment. If they did nothing you will pass that along. Bad comments travel much faster than good comments.

After a quick repair, i am cutting again! Woot!.
Once i got the key in and started cutting i realised it had been slipping and that made the saw super loud!
It's much more pleasant now.

I'm jealous... rainiest season on record in Norcal and I've got about four inches of water in my saw I even made a new tarp cover for it last Fall but it didn't work obviously. Not to mention my main pulley is slipping. It's always something hah.

Prolly won't fit great but that's why bungee cords were invented 😁 that's going to be a pain I know to clean the rust.

I use a shower curtain to keep my little used tile saw from the rain with no problems. BTW - one can never have enough slabs...
