Count me as remembering the days of hand html coding - just last week, in fact LOL yes, last week. Not that much HTML anymore though... mostly CSS and JS. When I first got the keys to the board three weeks ago I looked into the header files and there were these things ... I didn't recognize them at first... <table> <tr> <td></td> </tr> </table>
My first thought was WTF is that!? followed by - Gawd how much I DO NOT miss tables Yeah, tables sucked, but when I look at the code on my pages it almost makes me miss html. I managed to edit a few simple things in the code without breaking it. I was doing the happy dance!!!

Please Critique okay... I'm one critical SOB, so hope you don't mind my scathing critique. On the About the Artist page, in the The Woman section, fix or lose the :] thing as it doesn't line up correctly. In the Testimonials area, at the top in blue you have: (nitpicking) Tela Formosa has been creating beautiful, original jewelry for sale online since 2002.
Here are just a few recent testimonials from Etsy, where she enjoyed many years with fabulous clients, many of them happily returning for one of a kind pieces. She has over 250 very positive reviews. While that's not technically speaking in 2nd or 3rd person (well kinda), it just reads wrong to me. I've reread it half a dozen times and it is just so oddly worded (TO ME) that I can't read it comfortably. Maybe it is the mixture of past tense and present tense. If I could contact my mom, she would know what it is right off the bat, but that's probably not gonna happen. Sorry, I dunno... just feels wrong. That is all... just Nice site. TWO thumbs up! Such pretties! Aside: This is a "community run" forum?

Thank you! I thought about that. I tagged the items with a color and the stone, so you can search for either. I didn't want the menu to be too long. With stone choices alone, the menu would reach down the page. The problem with having folks using search to whittle down selections by color is the vast number of terms they'll type in for the colors they are seeking. For instance, "orchid" or "ecru" or "sapphire" when they mean blue or hundreds of other possibilities, some of which are very vague. Search isn't going to return valid results on all the possible terms people use. Similar to websites that offer everything from clothing to used cars, it is better to present visitors with finite choices, perhaps the basic color wheel choices (red/orange/yellow/green/blue/purple + black, gray/brown and white/colorless). I'm not suggesting that this would be something you need to do prior to going live, just something to mull over for the future. And how you'd integrate such options without spoiling your design is something to ponder as well. A site with 100 items can probably do without this, but as it grows to 250 or 500 items, anything to make browsing by main color easier would be valuable to shoppers IMO. There are some sites that have done this (such as here and here), though I think you'd want not to use "mixed", but instead go for the main color in each piece, and you'd certainly want to present the sorted results in a different way than these (i.e., not by listing a bunch of stones you'll never carry). Again, just some ideas, for whatever they are worth. My first thought was WTF is that!? followed by - Gawd how much I DO NOT miss tables I hated them, too. CSS was a great improvement, and shoves a lot of the stuff off the page into another file, but looking at code is still way too ugly and pages seem to rapidly transmogrify over time as this or that gets added and unused stuff just accumulates. I've gradually dropped sites and now only occasionally need to update one - anything more is too much for my old brain to handle.

captbob!!! I am thrilled and honored that that was all you had for me. LOL! Sheeeeeww! The trouble is, I keep hearing my teacher saying you can't use "I" all the time. I see what you mean about the second person thing. I just don't want to be "I, I, I..." Yes, I noticed the messed up smiley font and forgot to get rid of it. Thanks I think of us as community run. Tommy has gone out of his way to get group feedback on changes and additions. But, maybe community owned? No, that's not technically right, either.... Thank you!

In keeping it simple, I opted for the client to search color using mostly very basic color choices. I could probably get away with a new menu item being "Color", rather than being more choices on the pendant sub menu. Something to think about. I wish I had kept up with css and js, but after I gave up my own site designs, everything seemed to change overnight and leave me in the dust. "...too much for my old brain to handle."

I've been busting my tail to get my new shop ready. I think it is time to share. It isn't officially open, but you can visit. You can't buy, the cart isn't set up, yet. I am open to all opinions. I actually like it a lot, especially the "sold page". That one page took a day to make. The site is supposed to be well optimized for mobile. I'm still working on the testimonial page. I need to put them in a grid, but that won't be too hard. www.telaformosa.com password cat123 You may get a security notice because that page isn't encrypted, just ignore it. I hope to be open in a few days or so. Thanks for your help. Love it!!! I'm concerned you may have used some deceptive photography (not to name other members... Garage Rocker) to misrepresent that ammolite pendant. To preserve your reputation it would be best for you to send it me for inspection. I would say "world's", but technically it is "worlds" because a world can not be possessive. The way I was taught, if something can not own something it can not be possessive.

When I do it right, it looks fake it is so awesome. I almost have to edit out the crazy iridescence to make it look more real. Seriously, it is a really nice piece of ammolite. Thanks! Fixed the typo thingie. I would never have caught that.

Worlds is plural, as in several planets. Google the world's oldest OK, if I am referring to this world, it is not plural. I am happy to include an apostrophe, I am just not sure it is correct- no matter what google says.

I'll just have to slap the piss out of that annoying teacher's head. LOL! (JK, she was a great instructor, which is why I keep hearing her voice.)

So in the opening paragraph on the root page - am I grammatically correct? "... the internet's most..."
It has never looked quite right to me...

rockjunquie , after seeing captbob 's suggestion about "person" on your testimonials page, I was going to suggest changing it to first person. I didn't bother looking at it the other night as I thought it wasn't completed. But, after taking a look this morning to be sure I didn't cross things up, I see you already made the testimonials page first person. Nice move. It personalizes things just that much more, and it keeps the tense consistent with your "about the artist" page which is already first person. Third person is too formal and cold IMHO for your site. Great work. Regards. Dave
