Good for you, jamesp!!!! Looks like it is working! Hollywood? Very cool! You probably closed your Etsy shop. If it is still up you should take 15 to apply free Marmalead to it. It will not take you long. I found it's 3 grading points on a search word to open your mind. In any tag word situation. It's like hiring an SEO person and watching them analyze right in front of your eyes. Just seeing the grade points 1-engagement and 2-competition level is an eye opener. High engagement(in green), low competition(in green) makes good products/search words/tag words. Low(in orange/red), high( in orange/red) makes bad. There is a 3rd term, not there yet. 3 greens is a winner

Looks like it works!

I tried the free version just for giggles and it's ranking the free-four at "B" across the board. Not sure if the quest for A's is worth the costs and energy or not. I've been following the Etsy formula title/tags/description nearly since I started... <shrug>

They have a general formula, but then they tweak it. Like it used to not matter where in the title your search word was. Now it does.

I've been following the Etsy formula title/tags/description nearly since I started... <shrug> Did you scroll down and see their ratings for your tag words ? Curious if you agree with their opinion(grading) or/and did it add new words with ratings. I did my Etsy title(Marmalead stylish) "<#1 search term> <Desrciption 4 to 7 words> <#2 tag> <#3 tag> <4><5><6><and if possible 7 and 8 and 9 (until 140 characters used)>" one space between all words tag word = Marmalead choices 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 ratings highest to lowest left to right They rated their tags(damn near same as my tags) very close to my ratings for the same tags I have been using on repetitive product on Etsy for a good while. That impressed me. Been watching same 10 tag words for 2-3 years. Can't fool me on those very easy. Did that all make schist for sense ?

Tommy, where did the link for your store go?
Jim, you drive around with that trailer with no lights or license plate? Hope you survived unloading 10,000 pounds and no one ran you off the road on your trip home!

Sold 4 pits from 2 of 3 Etsy listings modified via Marmalead since Saturday 4 PM.(Sat 4PM till Sunday late PM) Best 2 days in a long time. I guessed this looking at the listing improvements. Did not seem like a random occurence. Colorado-Michigan-New York-Boston. Call from Hollywood for a big one in a film set, waiting. Other convos. Dropping these to ship, then picking up ~10,000 lbs in bowls return trip. All day job. That looks like a 7000 lb trailer to me. If that is the case 10000 lbs would be double the carry capacity and if I remember right you have no trailer brakes. Be careful young man............................................MrP

Never do more than 6000, try to keep it below 5000. Long trips prefer 3500/4000. Tommy, where did the link for your store go? Jim, you drive around with that trailer with no lights or license plate? Easy to sneak thru, I am small pennies. DOT is doing the semi's for the big fines. Trips are carefully planned, like lunch time and 2 PM. Back roads too. Only bought 2 tags for trailers in my life; owned 8-10 boats or jet skis, 4-5 trailers. sloppy eh ? That trailer will have to be replaced after a couple of more years, or serious rebuild. Those steel bowls in 1600 pound stacks are hard on it.

Probably 6 or 7 semi loads of steel on 16 foot trailers, already worn out 2, that one is number 3. The decks and the frame look like banana's N-S/E-W when jamesp gets a hold of them lol. If you lived close by you would certainly not loan me your trailer...no worry I would never ask. That abuse is my responsibility.

The longest day by day graphical analytics period that I could get on Etsy is gotten by entering 59 days in 'specific dates'. In my case, 75-80% of 'fire pit' are purchased on Sunday go figure. The views on Sunday closely reflect my total sales. Sunday has the highest views 75-80% of the time go figure. This is a 59 + 59 + 59 day look back. Call it 6 months with daily sensitivity. Most of the peaks are Sundays. Screenshots and then cropped for my permanent records. April 23rd was the day I applied Marmalead to the titles of 4 listings and renewed them. It makes sense that the April 23 peak was a listing peak as I modified listings. It makes sense that the February 20 peak was a shop peak because I was in some sort of Etsy shop promotion ad. I can generate sales going to festivals, which is a lot of work. Or sit on my azz and have customers buy online. Time will tell if Marmalead is in fact the influencing factor. Monday is a 'get it done day' here on this farm. It is a rule that I ship all Sunday orders on Monday without fail(unless struck by lightning). Fast shipping 'scores well' with the impulsive world out there. Key to fine reviews. Often time getting up early Monday to build any pits I may not have in inventory to make Monday shipments which is rare. Inventory rebuilt on Tuesday. So work week is Sunday evening, Monday and Tuesday. Then harass wife for the other 5 days. Mid-week orders are sometimes shipped during week requiring me to take wife out for dinner on return trip.(an arrangement)

MrP Michael. I am extremely anal about loading trailer. Note bulk of weight over axle. Chain bucks have been removed. This load is 10-48" bowls, 18-42" bowls and 15 small 30" bowls adding up to 2500 + 2400 + 450 pounds = ~5500 pounds. It is scrap metal and ships with no pallet and I am not going to complain as I am fortunate to receive it. Though those pointed bottom bowls beat my trailer up. 12 miles from freight company. I ship out finish product and receive raw at same freight company. To help discount rate I ship (in) raw with their partners which costs more. I never used a freight company until 2 years ago. It was an education. The fender is the result of having no brakes. Another story and another axle. Rails removed to facilitate unload/load. I could use a heavier trailer but that can quickly add 2000 pounds to trailer weight.

OK. I just bit the bullet and paid $190 for a year. So did Etsy wife. More information. Ha, all her descriptions were full of red bar graphs. Mine are green and good and she wrote mine go figure. My best listing graded by Marmalead. And my worst. Not bad, lots of green. Wife's were bad descriptions, all red. For instance her grade level is all 8-10. Descriptions are supposed to be written in 4th grade jargon. Good listing, 42 inch fire pit(#1-2 best seller) Not as good. This is a listing for a fire pit cover, an accessory. It is referred to customer by fire pit listing.

OK, I re-listed an old sold listing to see how my listing from several years to check Marmalead rating. This is the item, a steampunk set of bookends from an 18th century submarine(ha ha). And this is the Marmalead judgment on my old description. Quite poor. However it still scored an 'A' listing because the search words were in place and highly rated(i.e. title is easy and means much):

James, I think you are having to much fun with that. LOL. You got that right. It is my wife that is freaking out at her overdose of red though. She is over there pecking away on her listings to please Marmalead. Keep in mind that we submit to each other based on Etsy success. She has been the submitee for a year and a half running... To be honest, we are somewhat blind on how to make good listings.

You have sold me on trying it... as soon as I get the chance. I had to deal with an ugly customer this morning who swore my cab pictures were not of the same cab. I assured her they were, she quit following me, I said- sorry to hear that you will be sorely missed. Kindness always kills the nasty ones. LOL! Really, she was being a beotch.

Another Etsy trick is to unlike shops and refill the buffer with new liked shops to increase views from power likers. She is doing you a favor. My wife's shop has those fussy customers. Not mine, fire pit people on Etsy are humble and kind. Fire pit people on Houzz are snooty and complain. Houzz wanting to allow ALL returns regardless of whimsical reason. Very 'not supplier' friendly. All 'customer' friendly. I 'reached out' told my third Houzz customer they can stick it where the sun don't shine. Not returning pit for rust. It is clearly described as the patina. Houzz probably not happy with James. They stopped 'reaching out' to me lol. I kinda cut my face off to spite my nose(is that the way the saying goes).

LOL!
I don't run into too many nasty people, but when I do, I am usually nicer to them than the nice ones because I know how much it pisses them off.
