For all the awesome people on this board, we sure get our share of pathological liars and nutcases. FYI - I am referring to tmorris, jody, and tinman (gosh, how did I miss that one?) E-dog, you the bomb.

I dunno....she sounds like a right wack job to me!
I'm a newbie too. I sure wouldn't know how to list those items she had on eBay.
I could certainly make a mistake with the box, but would also certainly make it right when I found out. That's also why I think I'm not ready to do the box thing.

Dandy, I don't think the box was a mistake at all. How do you mistakenly throw trash instead of rocks in the box? See, I explained my theory about The Box at our field trip. Sure alot of us are newbies and maybe our stuff isn't yet as nice as stuff from oh, kim for instance, but I think we would put our best in there. I think you and I would pick out just a few things and put in something we thought was good. That's keeping in spirit of the box. I think, more than the physical aspect of what happened with the box, it was the spirit that was messed with (but not broken thinks to the kindness of a few people here helping to make it rise from the ashes). And I think more than anything else, that is what upsets me the most. And I've not even participated yet! But I've now met several wonderful fantastic people from here and have seen more wonderful fantastic people on here and yeah, I get irked, to put it lightly, when someone messes with that.

I agree. If you don't have much to contribute to the box, one would take only a couple of things and replace them with something decent. I mean, you don't just take out stuff you can't replace!
It appears that in Jody's dealings with Xena, there were a lot of excuses made to her that she "didn't know," "didn't understand," "mistakenly thought this or that," which resulted in Xena not getting all her rocks back. Some of her stuff ended up on eBay, and other stuff was already in Jody's tumbler. At the very least, there is a big communication problem here, but I'd bank on it being more than that.
This goes way beyond rocks. Rocks can be replaced, but trust is harder. There is a very bad taste left in some peoples' mouths, and it will take more than replacement rocks to get rid of that.

Wow. I just followed one of the links e-dog supplied and realized that I had bid on one of her auctions, and what is more Kim outbid me. Small world.

When this box thing started, I was fairly new, but I had seen rocks on here and pictures of what people had and would probably send. At that point I decided to not get on list, because I had nothing or very little to trade. I will say it was more than what I saw in that box she sent e-dog. I also saw what e-dog won on e-bay( the original picture, because I bid on it to. If she was doing all this selling on e-bay, and making jewelry, she knew a lot more than I did about rocks. So if I was smart enough to know I had nothing worthwhile to trade, she certainly should have. As far as forgiving and let by-gones be by-gones, I leave that up to the people who were involved in this a lot more than me. E-Dog, sorry again you got burnt. The only way it touched me was to be more wary, even of people on here, and that makes me sad because there are great people on here and I consider them friends. But a few people have shown us there are people who will take advantage of your friendship. Terry

daniel i put in a max bid when she posted about it in the buy, trade, section. it is a nice piece that i will be able to get some small slabs and cabs from. it is 6"Lx2.5"Hx2.75"D. her measurements are not wrong just not measured properly for rocks. she measured the lengths of all 3 sides (the piece is triangular) and if you measure it that way her measurements are correct. the weight was correct and she put in a small extra piece. shipping was high.

It wasn't about the money with me, I bid on her junk to be nice and try to help her out. Then when the box got here I didn't like being deceived, then being told I was the dishonest one. I have thrown more money away on the Jaguar than I will ever throw away with rocks in a life time. 20 bucks ain't gonna make me or break me. It's about the faith in people and the trust issue thing that gets to me.

LOL Kim -
I'm happy not to have it. I did not even remember the item. I must have just been trawling, saw it, and gave it a one shot bid. High shipping always puts my nose out of sorts, so I am really glad I did not get it.
I hope you do something nice with it, and give us lots of pictures.

We have all kinds of problems like that on our local geocaching forum (VIGPS.com) with a-holes showing up as sock puppets after being banned & causing problems both virtually & physically, so it doesn't surprize me that there are people like that in the rock world too. It's like I always say, there's one in every hundred. I would not be surprised if rocks from the plundered rock box showed up on Ebay. The good thing is that we can all help each other avoid getting ripped off by the few bad apples out there.

OK I read and re-read this post- I can't figure it out- Jody it seems like your trying to go back on making this right- Seems like there are a lot of Wronged People and you need to cantact each of them- Apoligize- and make it right- I know If it where me I would be PMing them and figuring out a way to correct it!!!!! I have traded with some of the very people you wronged- and all my trades and deals came out good- So I know it is not them- You need to take the abuse (yes You where WRONG- its called punishment- it is what you recieve when you have done wrong- no excuses) and you need to apoligize (here I'll Show you a sample PM: Earthdog- I am sorry for send you crap and then fighting with you about it- I WAS WRONG and I AM SORRY! How can I make this right?) See not so hard- then You Follow up those words with actions (by following through with your promise) Nobody is going to be unreasonable- Hell I know Earthdog- If you offered to make it right- he would probably just accept you apology and be done with it) Stop your claim to be new to this- and fix what you broke! Puppie is right!!! Your hiding behind the claim of ignorance just admit you screwed us over- AND FIX IT!!!!!!!
