I guess ya never know what could happen, known many people that have found the love of their lives online. Dating is not as fun as I thought it would be. Somewhere along the way Ive developed dam morals We wouldn't want Big Red off schedule-Ive been waiting long enough to see him finished.
We are at 50 right now and getting some much needed rain.
Damn, big red got trapped in a box addressed to Fresno CA. How'd that happen ? Thanks for cheering me on Ali. After polish I could not find a single fracture. From rotary to polish in 38 hours. Big rock in small hopper makes for fast work. Such an arrangement greatly increases compressive grind forces on rock. The big rock barely moved while the media was flowing quickly around it. Note taken. Polish is up to snuff: WHAT!!!!!!! You sly dog Take note boys, that's the way to my heart!!!!!! LOL!!!!! Big Red is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Keep hanging around here, Ali and you will be wearing rocks on your fingers as big as diamonds. And to think that people would DARE ask, "what do you do with all your tumbles". A bit of creativity goes a looooong way. Don't tell anyone youp, (I think a melted the gal's heart). It's a secret Yesterday I drove to Alabama to shop for HDPE pipe fittings for a rotary barrel design. Massive HDPE operation, 500 acres. Even had a monster 48 inch HDPE pipe welder. I explained to the room of suit and tie salesman what I was doing with their pipe. They were totally perplexed. So I went out to the truck and bought in a little bucket of tumbles, say a pound's worth. Handed them out to the suit and ties(and a couple of secretaries). I left with a free pile of scrap pipe and some purchased fittings. Three of them came out to the truck and even helped carry the free pipe scraps lol. They wanted to see more tumbles. They asked me how they could drill holes in the tumbles to make gifts for their ladies. A gave them another ~pound of tumbles. They got into a bit of an argument over some of them(me grinning like a possum eating crap). This place on a 1/4 mile of rail road. frontage: a small potion of their warehouse: And I found the ultimate rugged 8" barrel. Bulk grit barrel w/6 inch opening. Will cut 6" section short and do a 6" Fernco. For bigger rocks. Easier 6 inch access. These will be run at yet higher speeds and the coarsest abrasives.

8x6 concentric reducer; 8 in cap; 6 in Fernco.... as the Louisiana man would say, "Now your cooking in peanut oil"
Sure am glad I pulled the trigger on 6 in sch80 PVC. I do have the 6 in Ferncos. Fernco is much prouder of them than the 4s.
Well done.

A plastic pipe visit and a 5000 pound fire pit cover pick up. Both in Birmingham area. Out for southern cooking with the iron guys at the 'Cabbage Patch Restaurant' to study their skills at aggravating the waitress's. Only to return home to a mass of finished fire pits to move to the stock yard and a bit of steel to unload. By the time this day is over the wife unit will probably have sympathy. To be moved and unloaded:

About as compact and tidy as I could get it. Final design decision.

You finding most of your customers are wanting covers now? I recall when covers weren't even an option. They must be profitable. Have to weld handles to all of them? Do they get the same patina as the bowls? Thinkin' if they didn't rust then people could sit on it. Wonder if a round all weather cushion (something that wouldn't soak up water) for when the pit is not in use would sell ... In the 2nd photo above there are some huge rounds leaning against the wall, must be 4 to 5 feet across. You make a fire pit that big? Looks cold up there! 3 more days of 80° here before it cools down on Christmas day to 70° then it warms back up!

Looks cold up there! 3 more days of 80° here before it cools down on Christmas day to 70° then it warms back up! Covers are going out with 90% of them. Matter of fact the rolled edge covers separates me from the others. They are not as high a profit item as there is less sweat equity as the pits. I give them a choice of 0,1 or 2 handles with no charge. Most don't get handles; I tell them they can't get as many beers on the table for the handles interfering as humor. But they do look better with out handles. Yes, same steel same patina. The covers serve as a dry wood source too. Throw green/wet wood on the coals and then cover, the coals will dry the wood for the next burn. Perpetual dry wood. They had some 54 and 60 inch bowls laying around. I bought them. I do have occasional requests for giant bowls. It cramps style building them at 400 to 600 pounds. Beyond man handling. Threatens injury to back. Even the base had to be thicker at 1/4" and 100 pounds. 54" at 460 pounds complete. 3/8" thick. $1700 less freight Built as sitting on trailer: It is about 60F here. But soaked. Snow melt and monsoon rains. Wet and sinky.

Collection of freebie pipes. Fittings purchased at $30 to $40 each. I bought a Harbor Freight plastic welder. It cost $65.

Take it from a woman Creativity goes a very long ways...my heart is still recovering. Speaking of creativity....may be a dumb question but what would happen or could it even be done, if you used rocks/glass to mosaic the covers of those pits? 🤔

The bonding agent may be a challenge MsAli. Grout might work but those tops do flex a little bit which may interrupt the bond of grout or crack the grout. A silicone might work though. Being carbon steel rust is another thing to attack the bond. They'd sure look great with such a finish.

Just throwing things out and have no clue what I'm talking about It would look mighty good tho

Fire pit bling! Bedazzle one of them suckers. I just tried to run that Mary Ellen. Guess what, it was barely too wide for (narrowest section of hopper) + (a 3/8" media). It jammed after 10 minutes. Ha, it will run with 1/4" media with out jamming grrrr.
