I am in love with that petrified wood crotch I'm not even gonna say what came to mind first. All I can say is you'd need a SiO2 "woodie" to deal with that appropriately!

I wont lie, I had a hard time typing crotch, but then I thought No, they are all mature and I wont get any comments about it We're not THAT mature! Ali may not like scrambled eggs, But she loves my crotch! Well some us aren't that mature. It is a rather impressive woody crotch
And I am so far from mature-

Score of the century east of the Mississippi, for sure. That egg is incredible. You won't catch me mentioning your crotch though, no matter how nice it is.

OK, no new pics from Bob. Wife unit must have found all the new rocks and Bob can't play with the rocks cause he's been grounded. If it were my wife and I brought all them rocks home, I'd be trying to pry them out of my arse along with her cowboy boot.....Mel

Be tough to hide this much rock. It was the lapidary equipment I bought a week or two back that got stashed away before she got home! Just had other stuff going on so didn't get to rocks today. Not sure there is much more exciting to photograph. Bought more Teepee & Dryhead. Some more of that Stromatolite from Wyoming and Turritella. But ya'll have already seen that stuff. Sure there are some other types out there, just don't recall what all. Kinda tired of taking pictures. Ya done seen the best stuff. until after my 3rd trip over there ...

I'm headed back to the sale Saturday morning. Headed over there early to be there (with permission) 2 1/2 hours before the sale opens. No telling what kinda trouble I'll get into this time, but... I admit that I am out of my comfort zone (rock wise) here. I just don't know enough about some of their treasures. Spent so much time reading about petrified wood, which I don't collect to date, that I'm going cross eyed. And I still don't have a freakin' clue! Buy what is "pretty" ?? *snicker* The dino bone there is WAY above my pay grade. What I bought so far was pretty easy to figure out "this is good", but they have huge chunks - whole vertebra/leg joints (?) like basketball sized, entire leg bones, etc, that I just don't have a way to know value. I could come home with ten thousand dollars worth of dino bone (I won't!) and not put a dent in their collection. They have a huge collection of BIG Arkansas crystal clusters. Again, I don't collect this stuff. Is it worth having? No telling the value. ... *sigh* SO many different specimen types that I just don't have experience with. I can tell what is a nice piece of Stone Canyon jasper or malachite or agatized coral or ... and have a very good idea of what it is worth or at least worth to me. But this collection goes off in directions that I am not properly prepared to deal with - due to LACK of knowledge. I'm not dumb, but dealing with so many various specimen types that I'm not up on makes me feel ignorant and unprepared. I don't like being unprepared - for anything. I am SURE that a year or two down the road I will be kicking myself for not buying X or Y when I had the (rare) chance to. Wish I could do one of those Vulcan mind meld things like Spock does on Star Trek and upload Mel's Sabre52 rock knowledge! I guess I'll just wing it the best I can. Certain that I will over pay on some items. I can justify that somewhat if these pieces just can't easily be found elsewhere. Figure that some specimens are worth more simply because you don't run across them often - or ever. Supply & demand? I dunno ... DO know that Saturday will be stupid expensive and crazy fun! Or, maybe I'm just stupid and crazy. I'll go ask my wife Should have taken up stamp collecting ...
I also dislike being unprepared, and usually do many hours of research before making any large purchase. All the research in the world did not prepare me for the amount of research needed to identify minerals, gems and rocks! I feel like an idiot who likes pretty rocks. I am so grateful for all the knowledgeable people here, cuts back on all the eye bleeding hours of research! I'm so envious of your beautiful collection and hope this newest haul brings as much or more beauty to all our lives. Very exciting!!🤗

Heading back to Cocoa tomorrow. Round 3 Already over 20k worth of rocks from there. When I hit 25k I get to the 50% off level. Thinkin' tomorrow is gonna be a shit load more dino bone and no tellin' what else. Seller has told me that they are ready to part with some things I expressed an interest in but they wouldn't sell before. We shall see. Never collected dino bone before. Had a bit, but these trips over there ought to take care of striking that off my "I need that" list. I hit 50% off rate (given) and maybe I can afford to buy some more of the overpriced spheres they have. Mother in Law coming in tomorrow night for God knows how long, maybe I'll just spend the week over there. Isn't the Daytona 500 this weekend? Never been to that race, probably a target rich environment! Note to self: pack tooth brush
