Dude that's badass! Yes, I believe RR does still do contract work. Lead time was 18 months last I heard. There is also an outfit in Arizona called endless circle and they do contract balls.

I have had 3 or 4 pieces at RR for over three years. I will probably be dead before they get them done. I would send them more but not much point to it!

Holy smokes that is a big sphere. For those of you that do not know much about sphere making like me, I got to tour a buddy's sphere making set up and large spheres need to start with a big ole hunk of clean rough and it takes some fancy equipment too. Just making the preform is a big deal as with a lot of materials it's really hard to find a big enough hunk of rock to start with. Good catch Bob. That's a beauty....Mel

Picked up a bit more dino bone on my return trip. Thinking I can now strike dino bone off my "I need that" list. Not being a dino bone collector (connoisseur?) I just went with my gut on which pieces to bring home. He still has a bunch that he wouldn't sell, that (to me) was really impressive. The milk crate and the pieces around it are new additions. Some nice colors in the batch - reds yellows blues and of course various shades of grays Picked up a box of small pieces to try tumbling. Hear it's a challenge to tumble, so that sounds good to me. What's the point of tumbling rocks that anyone can tumble well? This chunk is kinda cool (and expensive) and worth a few pictures. the center marrow of the bone has been nice replaced with some interesting agate. I think that's it for the dino bone. May run across more as I unpack boxes. I like taking pictures of this stuff. No reflections!

I'm with Mel. I did see a lot of color in the others, though. You probably have a lot of really decent examples.

okay... today I have a bunch of pictures of odds and ends I picked up. Lots of pictures, but not that many items. Just that most of them require multiple shots. Start off here with a LLanite sphere. 5 1/2 inch sphere; which, again, is a good sized sphere A bear to get good photos due to reflections. A couple pics were fair - out of way too many attempts. Color more accurate in 1st pic A Picasso sphere. Just over 4 inches. Again tough to photo well. A different angle shown at the end of this post. This egg I don't have a location of origin for. I'm thinking it's from somewhere out west that used to be underwater fossilman , you may appreciate this piece. Just over 4 1/2 inches tall. Seller has a larger one, but this one had more goods in it. Lots of pics just because it's kinda cool looking. A Buchanan Ranch t-egg - face and a backside pic Here may be the star of the show for this trip over there. This is from Texas Springs - that's in Nevada, not Texas Almost hate to call it a limb cast, because it's larger than any I have seen from there. Once again lots of pictures of this piece. It deserves them! Here is a petrified / agatized specimen from of Blue Forest wood. (Wyoming) Seller called it a crotch. I don't really collect pet wood, so I don't know. Just thought it was neat and had to come home with me! Also worth a bunch of photos. Wrapping up today with a few group shots. Have a bunch more to take pictures of, but it's misc. pieces and I don't even remember what all. Do have an overflowing box with more Teepee Canyon & Dryhead agate in it, but you've already seen a bunch of that. Will go through it and see if anything stands out. That's it - stuff to do.

Nice stuff! I'm a sucker for petrified wood. That orthoceras egg is pretty sweet. My Mom would love it. And today's her birthday, and I got her -- uh oh!

Very neat to watch you go through all of this stuff captbob. Thanks for sharing. Too many to pick one favorite, as they are all outstanding. I do really like the Blue Forest piece that you posted. I'm with MrP, I don't think I've ever seen a pet wood crotch before...just single stumps and such. Congratulations.

For me, that egg is just absolutely FABULOUS! A real winner. I could look at it all day. Next, I have to say is the crotch. I have never seen one, but I ma betting they don't get much better. Amazing! The llanite is pretty damn sweet, too. OK, i'm gonna go clean my keyboard now...... Good catches.
