Well Sands, you can just be sure as soon as I have a chance I am going to go back though and pick one out I like! LOL! Trouble is I like so many of them I don't know if I could choose just one.
I can also guarantee you that as soon as I get my grinder set up, I will be emailing you a bunch for some help on making my own freeform cabs!

Those are really pretty John. I love the blue ones. Sodalite right? I can't decide whether they look like a stormy sky or a choppy ocean. No, wait, I know what they remind me of, the ocean at night with a full moon. Yup that's it. Gosh those are gorgeous. Keep up the good work John.

Whether you sell them or not, it looks like you're having a heck of a lot of fun. Nice stuff, your daughter will have some really unique jewellery!

Okay Sands, it's the middle of the night and I couldn't sleep, so have been going back through this thread to try and pick out one I really like. That was hard to do because I really like them all, but I have narrowed it down. On page 10, the picture rock, I love those. I really like the one on the bottom right, also the bottom left - and the top right and left and the middle. LOL! The bottom right or left are my favs of this bunch. I also really like the green ones in the pic with the sodalite, esp. the second one from the right on the bottom. Since I can't really make up my mind which of these three I really like the best, I am going to leave it to you to pick it out. I love them all. I would really love it if you would drill a hole in it so I can wear it. If those three are already given away or promised to someone else, no problem! Ya' got a whole lot more there to choose from and I'll pick another one. Since I like them all, I'll be happy! llana

Kim, the sodalite does look like a stormy ocean under a full moon. But now I wish I wouldn't have gone back and looked at them again because I have decided I really like the orangy-tan one. So, John, now you have four that I really like and you get to pick the winner! llana I AM NOT looking at this thread again cause I might find another one or two that I really like! ;D

Hey sands, Hey there buddy ... you are doing some very nice work on the cabs . I can tell you one thing ... you would be able to sell your stones just about anywhere. They definitely look much nicer than alot of the cabs being offered on eBay! I would definitely consider selling them ... you wont have any problems at all. If you want to see your cutting skill progress, this is a neat thing to try: Take one of your cabs and set it aside, in three months set another one aside, and continue this for as long as you are cutting cabs. You can look back in a year or twenty years and see how you have progressed and what modifications you have made on the cabs that best suit you. It's something I started in high school and I wish I would have continued to do. I did mine for about four years and then quit for some reason. It's nice to look back at what you were working on fifteen to twenty years ago and be able to compare the designs and quality of your work. You will see a nice progression of quality and design as you do more cabs. I showed my son my first bunch of cabs that I cut and he laughed at my work. Then he started to see a continual progression of better stones until the laughter became ooooo's and aaaaa's. You are doing a great job on those cabs You'll be able to sell them - don't sell yourself short, those look great. Enjoy, John

Oh Sands, those are so pretty! That touch of yellow in a few of them - is that actually in the rock or is that light reflected onto them. Dang, wish you wouldn't have shown them. Now I'm thinking I want one of those instead of the other one! LOL!
You can definitely sell those. There is a bead shop I occasionally visit when I go to Kerrville. They have all sorts of beads and jewelry stuff made from rocks, but I gotta tell ya' nothing as unusual and pretty as your freeform cabs. When I get mine I might just have to go in and show her and see if she is interested in buying some for her shop.

John- Do use a belt to polish,or is it just a finer grit? What steps, in the way or courseness do you get the shapes? 270 to 500 or what? I'm getting my grinder and lap this week and don't know what kind of wheels to put on it? Give some advice buddy. The Lap will have changable wheels and the grinder is a four stage one being a polishing disc. Thanks Bud!
