John, The picture in that stone is completely AWESOME! Whatever you decide to do with it, I know you will be careful. You wouldn't want to risk messing up that image!

Your welcome, John. We love the stuff you sent us too! Was that one off of that big kinda flat chunk of flint? I'd like to see what that golden wood looks like after you cut it. It looked like it would have some pretty cool color in it.

Boy, that goldenwood is really pretty, isn't it? John, you are doing an excellent job with all your "first attempts" ! I don't think I've seen one I don't like. They are all wonderful. Hope my first attempts are just half as good as yours! Do you use all diamond belts or silicone carb belts? Gotta start thinking about those belts cause my grinder is gonna be here soon. And I just found out yesterday that I don't have to pay rent. Just have to do a bit of mowing! It's hot as hell, andthat lawnmower is brutal (extremely heavy self propelled- crossing fingers that rider is back from shop!), but I'll gladly mow so I can use the rent money for some belts! llana

thanks llana ---and yea that wood is nice ---i been useing all silicone carb belts and grinding wheels i cant afford diamond ones right now,, i was thinkin bout a diamond grinding wheel so it would go smoother for the shaping but i dont know which one to get ridged or flexable, if one last longer id rather get that one since they start at 150.00 apiece---anybody got a sugestion or a fav, yell it out hahaha

Wow! I thought that chunk of golden wood looked like it would have some nice color in it...........and it DOES! That's cool! I cut a chunk that I had here, and it was totally just the gold with no other color. I still think that it will polish up nicely.
I love the way our local flint takes the polish. I think that's what has kept me going thru the disappointing batches because my very first finished batch had some flint in it that was gorgeous!
Thanks for showing us the gold wood, John!

Those look great sands. Do you mind a little constructive criticism? When you do you wrap at the top (the coil) when your finished take your pliers and gently squeeze the coil together. Makes it look neat and avoids that nasty possibility of the wearer getting their hair caught in the coil. (I have long hair and think of these weird things.) Ok on to the pic itself. Looks like your doing well with the camera. Noticed they are posted so I guess you figured out how to get them on your computer! Have the instructions helped? Have you figured out how to use the macro feature? My suggestion is that the next pic of your masterpieces that you take use natural lighting. Go out on a bright sunny day and find a shady spot. Lay your stones out on something white and shoot away! The sunlight brings out the shine. The shade helps bring out the color. Doing it this way means you don't have to use the flash and have it shine back at you in the stones. Otter
