as for the background, here's how i see it: rocks are something found in nature, so they would look best when photographed in or around a natural setting. felt would be alright, but i like the idea of the rough rocks in the background, either that or like you holding it and green grass behind. something like that. i don't know if you saw these already from one of my other posts, but these are some geodes/agates i got from a guy on ebay that used rough as his background. a brazilian agate geode: a coconut agate geode: i think that background is good

JK, I agree! The rough background really brings the cut and polished stone out. I love the way KD drapes her pieces over a large rough rock. It's really eye catching.
Love that Brazilian agate! I have three I need to cut. Cut a slab off one and it's really pretty. Can't wait to get at least one slice off the others to see what they look like.

Ahhh you should. How old is your daughter? That's beautiful stuff! I bet regardless of her age...she'll love it!
I tumbled/polished some of the green quartz and it's my favorite. Pulled it out so I could shape a few of the stones instead of finishing them out. (I like them THAT much!) They seem solid, resistant to chips and fractures too....amazing stuff! I really want more of it!

i hope when i am older, i will have a saw and grinding, polishing unit so i can make my kids things (if i have kids). tell your daughter to keep up the 4.0, i am a junior in highschool, and so far still have a 4.0 but i think this semester it might be broken by stupid AP US history, i hate that class....

emerald i got the 3 that sold last week and they came friday. the pics do not at all do them justice. now the hard part creating just the right jewelry to properly show them off. but i think i lucked up there. my neighbor was out getting his mail as i was coming home with my new treasures and i stopped to show him. he is a jeweler and has a jewelry store. he hollered out loud when i showed him the dark sodalite. i didn't have the others unwrapped yet to show him. i'm gonna get with him next week to get him to create a setting for them. AND in talking to him he will soon be a tumbler too! he has his tumblers in waiting as he completes his shop. i told him just do like me and take over the dining room. a fellow tumbler right across the street that is a jeweler too! lucky me!
