It seems that every day of the year has at least one, but usually several, odd holidays associated with it. Let's pay homage to some of them.
For example, today (04 Oct, 2018) is National Taco Day Yesterday was Virus Appreciation Day

National Fossil Day this year is October 17, 2018. Always celebrated on the Wednesday during Earth Sciences Week October 14-20, 2018.
This very special day is not intended for us old fossils among the general population. Rather, it is a day to learn about, and preserve fossils found in nature.
Here is information found on the National Park Services' website link .
Being as we are rockaholics, I'm betting no one here finds it odd. Just passing on the information, giving you advance notice so you can get ready to celebrate it.

On the rock-related front, it appears that we missed
Collect Rocks Day, which was 16 September International Rock Day, 13 July
Mark your calendars for next year. Now let's get to the ones that really are weird.

Here's my contribution, special "jasper chocolate": Might be kinda hard on your teeth though.

Fantastic. That reminds me of a few years ago, when I ended up labelling the bowl of beach pebbles that I kept on my desk as being actual rocks, not the candy variety. People kept eyeing them with that hungry look, and I did not want to be held responsible for broken teeth.
